I forgot my secuity key for my router. I need to put in a new one- or find the old one. I have a internet tv that will not work without the secuity key -please help

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. If you need the Security key or Network Key you need to access the Wireless Settings Page.

To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.1.1, the Default username is blank and the password is admin. Go to the Wireless Tab select Wireless Security under the Security Mode you will see there Network Key or Wep Key. The Network Key or Wep Key serves as a password or security code on your network to make it secure.
You can also reset the router by pressing the Reset button at the back of it for 15-30 seconds using a Pen and a Paper Clip.

If this works dont forget to say thanks. Thanks for using Fixya.

Forgot my network key password

For wireless or to manage the router?
If you forgot the wireless key password, you should be able to get into the router through a web interface and get or reset the wireless password.
If you don't remember the password to manage the router itself, it should have a "Reset" or "Go Local" button the back of the unit. Press and hold that for about 5-10 seconds. This will set the unit back to factory defaults and you should be able to log in again to set up your wireless settings.

You may have forgot your network key (encryption key) but do you have your password for your router? if so you can use a wired connection to login and create a new encryption key. If you cant login to your router you will have to set it back to default and reprogram it

I forgot my parental password i do i get it back or get a new one

All Gateway branded routers include a reset button on the back. Pressing and holding this button should reset your router to factory defaults. Your wireless network will need to be reconfigured to return it to its current state (network name, WEP key, etc.) but this should allow you to get around the forgotten password issue.

Forgot network key

Do you remember your router password? If so, there are probably ethernet ports on the back of the router that you can connect to with a cable. Log into the router and change the key.

Forgot the Network Key

Log into the Router and go to the Wireless Config. The router address would be the default gateway for the connected PC; most likely 192.168.1.1 or something of that nature. There you can create a new network key or use a converter to convert the hex to decimal.
