It will not turn on, does the small watch battery have anything to do with turning it on??

the small watch battery is for storing date time wireless connections etc. Have you tried a new fuse in your plug or an alternative power supply?

Trying to connect wii wireless through my westell 7500 modem from verizon. error code 52230 keeps coming up. on phone with nintendo for an hour. they tried all kinds of stuff that did not work. told me...

It appears that the wii wants to work with wap security not wep. Need to go into the router with the gateway. Next o to the security tab. Set up wap2 security password. On the drop down menu choose tkip and aes (both) setting. On the wii I would clear out the wireless settings and then set up a new wireless connection. Search for said and choose your router. Hit connect and enter your password. Save settings and have the wii connect, should get a connection successful message. Grab some popcorn and enjoy Netflix.

Cursor moves spoardically across screen

# Check that the Wii sensor bar is on or below the centre of the TV,and there is no obstruction with clear line of view between it and the Wiimote
# Go in Wii settings and check there are only 2 dots visible. If yes, crank up the Sensor bar sensitivity to 5 with 2 dots still visible, else adjust it till the 2 dots become stable at whichever sensitivity
# If there are more than 2 dots, there is some IR source in the rooms which is disturbing the wireless connection between the Wiimote and the sensor bar, so that source has to be removed from the room

Nothing else works, then resync the remote. Remove the batteries, wait couple of inutes, reinsert, and resync through the 2 red buttons.

This sucks...

If the Wii is set to 60hz make sure your tv supports it. For the curser problem, try replacing the sensor bar or changing the sensitivity

Wii freezing up

Mowcius, Thanks for the idea about the battery! If this happens again, I will remember that.
We were able to get the Wii going again and it was short on memory, so this seems as if it is likely something related. This is how we got ours going again...
We unplugged it from the wall outlet for 3 full days (possibly same as if we had taken out the battery?)
When we turned it back on, went straight into Setup Menu and reset it to factory settings... we did lose everything, but I was thankfully able to go through and retrieve all the Wii games we bought. (I didn't download them all, cuz I didn't want the memory overfilled again...) but, only the ones that we actually all like playing. We lost all the Mii's... but, we are just happy to have the other stuff back! Don't care about the mii's much anyway:)
We did try the 'no power' for only one day the first time...and the Wii responded longer, but froze when we got to the Setup Menu... 2 days unplugged from wall outlet worked!
Thanks! Hope this helps someone else!

Wii image gone

try connecting to a tv that supports 60hz. But you should read up on this stuff before you do anything like that again. Understand , understand? alright! but do not do anything like that again!

Wii black screen

The following fix should help users who do have problems with some virtual console games for the Nintendo Wii that display only a black screen after starting them while the sound remains normal. This does not work in all occasions but should work if you get the Wii menu when you press Home and works only for games that received an update for the interlaced mode.
Try out the following to see if this fixes the issue. Start the game normally until you see the black screen. Connect the Nunchuck to the Wiimote and press Home to see the menu options. Now press A + 2 + Z together which should result in a short “ping-like” sound.
This should have activated the interlaced mode. Leave the menu and you should see the normal game screen and not the black screen anymore. To change the mode again press A + 1 + Z using the same method as above
