We hear the game on the TV but game does not show on the TV
First the games would not play. We then reformatted and did system upgrades. Now we can hear the game but there is no actual picture on screen. We disconnected all wires and still no picture on any TV in the house. Why?

I have the same problem. My games freeze after 5 minutes. Same with blue rays but dvds play fine. I have reformatted the hard drive and formatted the file system. Nothing has worked. Hearing through multiple sources the blue ray laser is going out or the latest firmware update could be causing this. Hard to know for sure ... major disappoint. I have the 80 gig. 2 years old just starting doing this three days ago. Any other suggestions?
You may have to upgrade the Wii system menu - is their system older than this year? We ahd the same issue this AM with Super Mario and Punch Out - connect your Wii to the internet and then
Just select the System Update option in Wii System Settings. This will update it and then they will work - if these are new games this year - our system was a 3.1 and it has to have the Wii system 4.0 for these newer games. Working fine now - give it a try...
I don,t know who this ziraffa is but I know the answer to your question. This is because the higher upgrade the higher the security, parentalcontrol, blah blah blah. But your not out of luck you can still upgrade to custom firmware. With this you can play homebrew games, isogames, csogames, etc.
It's because your trying to play american games on a japanese system. See the japanese system is different because of not only how much Power it needs to function (I'd be wary about that btw) as well that a Japanese PS3 can only play Japanese PS3 games. American games wont work for it.
Sounds like you had homebrew or similar firmware to play images (copied games) from your memory stick. Now that you have upgraded your firmware to an official Sony release these are no longer supported.
