Question about Whirlpool Ultimate Care II LSQ9564J Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Ultimate Care II Whirlpool Washing Machine (top loading) - same problem as everyone else. 4 years old - gets to the final spin cycle and just "whirs." It appears that the door switch is working. It clicks when I close the door. It appears that all these machines fail at 4 years of age. There are only 2 in the household and we do 2 loads a week. This should not happen. How to I disassemble the machine to see if the belts are worn or broken. There were times over the past few months that sheets got tangled in the agitator. Whatever you can do to help. Thank you. Just want to know how to perhaps solve the problem before I add it to the junk pile.

    To clarify my problem:

When the machine got to the end of the washing cycle, it just whirred. It did not empty the tub and it did not spin. I tried it on different cycles and it did the same thing. I believe that the catch on the top lid is okay but how can I tell for sure. It clicks when I close the lid.

What can you suggest? I would like to try to fix it but I would need a schematic or manual to try it myself.

It sounds like you have a broken motor coupling. disconnect power supply unscrew 2 screw on each end of backside of control panel, flip control panel to back, remove lid swt connection and pry up the 2 clips that hold cabinet. remove cabinet, on bottom of front you'll see the pump and motor. pry off the 2 clamps that hold on pump you can tie pump to side to keep out of you way don't disconnect hoses. remove 2 1/4 in screw that hold clamp to motor and remove motor clamps pull mtr to front and pry off coupling from shaft of mtr and transmission.replace coupling pn 285753a for about $10 .reverse procedure to install

Will not spin

The final cycle of any washing machine, including Whirlpool units, is the spin cycle. During this cycle, water is sucked out of the load, preparing the clothes for the dryer. If your spin cycle isn't working properly, your clothes will be extremely wet, which increases the length of the drying process. Troubleshoot, and repair this problem yourself to save money

Yes it is a timer issue, and yes the whole timer will need to be replaced. If you are handy it is not very hard. You can order the timer from with your model # and it will show you a parts breakdown so you can see hoe to replace it easier
