Is it okay to use glass whistler tea kettle on ceramic stove top range

I've seen mixed results across the internet on this one. From personal experience, for some reason, my glass teapot left some sort of stain on my ceramic stovetop. It also took longer to heat. I then went out and bought a simple metal one and have been pretty satisfied. If cosmetics are a concern, it's not too difficult a step to pour the water into your teapot after the fact, right?

Gas burner on Viking stove does not turn on. Normally you push knob and turn to get gas flowing and igniter to work. The knob is hard to push in and feels as though I am forcing it. The igniter sparks

ok so the knob isnt turning on the gas i suspect the mecanisum in the switch is broke failing that a blockage out the 2 id say the knob

only way to know is to take it apart im willing to bet something plastic has snapped off the inside of the knob sounds simple but knowing cookers ull have some awkward bits to get past to get in there im not farmiliar with that cooker but thats my 2 pence take it apart ovbiously unplug it from the electric / gas supplie i would be expecting to replace a plastic part of the knob gear the part allowing the know to turn on up / down gas supply try not to disturb seals or u will get a leak infact i would advise that only a gas safe / corgy engineer shuld be the only person attempting a repair on gas appliences for safety reasons but personaly id attack it my self but not sugestin it

hope this helps

Knobs are distorting with heat

It sounds like either a bad design or a leaking seal, the knobs are above the oven?If it is the door might not be sealing good allowing heat from the oven to escape upwards heating up the knobs. It is not normal.

My washer has leak more and more over the last few months. Model # LW8203W2. What do you think the problem may be? any help appreciated.

Hello there:
If the washer leaks only during the fill cycle, check these: Air-gap device -The air gap is a small device found on most washers that prevents the wash water from being siphoned into the household water supply. It's located either mid-way along or at the end of the black rubber hose that comes from the water-inlet valve. Often it's made of translucent plastic. If one of the air-gap components deforms or cracks, you may need to replace it. The tube -There's a rubber tube that runs between the water-inlet valve and either the air-gap or the inlet spout. If it cracks or breaks, it can cause a leak. Inlet spout -Most washers have a plastic spout near the top of the main clothes tub that directs the water into the tub. If the spout cracks or breaks free of its mounting, it can cause a leak. During drain and spin only A washer that leaks only during the spin cycle often has a leak in the main drain hose. Inspect the entire hose and correct any problem you find. Alternatively, the steel or plastic outer tubs can rust, split, or be punctured. This may be most visible during large loads and high water levels. If this happens, you may have to replace the entire outer tub--but that may not be an economical repair to make. Consult a qualified appliance repair technician for further details. All the time If the washer leaks all the time, check these: Hot and cold water fill hoses - Check the hot and cold water hoses from the household plumbing. If either hose is leaking, tighten it or replace it, as appropriate. Main tub seal - The main tub seal is located between the transmission and the outer tub. It's the primary water seal in the outer tub for the transmission-shaft entry point. If this seal leaks, you can see the leak by opening up the machine's main access panel while the machine is full of water with a small amount of detergent in it. The leak appears at the underside of the outer tub, at or near the center. This seal is difficult to replace. You probably should call a qualified appliance repair technician. Pump - If the pump leaks, you can probably spot the leak when the tub is full of water. The pump has two or more black rubber or plastic hoses attached to it and usually has a drive belt that spins the pump. If the pump is leaking, you need to replace it. Outer tub - Over time, the steel or plastic outer tubs can rust, split, or be punctured. If this happens, you may have to replace the entire outer tub--but that may not be an economical repair to make. Consult a qualified appliance repair technician for further details.

How do I turn off the pilots on a Hotpoint RGA720?

The mfg does not want you to turn off the pilots, because of the potential for a gas leak and an explosion, so not designed to do that. You would have to probably disconnect the tubing to the pilot light, and cap it off, but I can't recommend circumventing the design on something like this.

If you do, after turning gas back on, make sure you check closely for leaks.

(This is why new styles of stoves eliminate the pilot light and use igniters)

Oven not heating

Gas or electric. For Gas the Igniter is probably faulty. Remove the bottom plate inside the oven and look where the pilot light would normally be. There is a coil of wire that is suppose to get white hot when you turn on the oven. It conrols the gas flow and ignites the gas.

If it is electric check to make sure the heating coil is in one piece. You can also measure the resistance of the coil (with mutimeter). The oven tempature can be contolled by a dial or digitally. If digitally controlled you may have a faulty relay. Be careful moving the oven due to possible gas leaks and for the electric type ovens electic shock can kill. Be careful and good luck.

Maytag Gemini MER6772 keypad/ovens not working

I had same problem, error code F 1-8, shorted keypad. I was so frustrated I went ahead and tore it apart. There was a surprising amount of gunk and moisture between the plastic face and the actual contacts. I cleaned it up and let it dry out. It worked OK for a while, but the seal is not good, and moisture from baking is still getting into it. When it goes bad again, I'm going to take off the plastic face and just press the sensors with a pencil eraser. I'll probably replace the range within the year. No way I'm paying $385 for new pad + installation on 10 year old stove.
