Pink Screen on Vizio 37 inch with HDMI Connection

Vizio 37 inch HDTV 1080p is connected by HDMI to Panasonic DVD recorder DMR-EZ48. The Vizio displays a pink screen occasionally when switching channels and between DVD recorder functions while the Vizio is on the HDMI input. There is a flash of pink with a light colored line in the middle while switching between channels even when the screen does not turn entirely pink. We have tried 4 different HDMI cables including a high speed Monster cable and two different Panasonic DMR-EZ48 recorders and the results are the same. This only happens with the HDMI connection. The Component connection and AV connections appear to not have this issue. The Vizio tech support person did not have an answer to this other than to try troubleshooting with the different cables and recorders.

Hi,
I work as a contract technician for Vizio, and I can tell you from experience that replacing motherboard is one of the only solutions to this problem. The other solution if under warranty is to replace it. If you experience red, blue, or green pixels where dark shades (like nose, eyes, clothes, etc), call Vizio and accept nothing less than a full replacement! I have had situations where I replaced motherboard and within 2-3 hours the pixels return. Hope this helps.

Sounds like you may be getting some red pixelation. take a picture of the TV screen if you can capture and forward it to vizio. a lot of parts are warrantied for life so check with vizio support. could also be an issue with av cord from main board. hope this helps. J

What kind of connection are you using? Are you are using a regular cable connection, HDMI, S-video, RCA for external speakers, etc.? Do you have a cable box or are you using a VCR or DVD player at the same time?

Some TVs have an option to turn off the sound when using HDMI. Check the menu on the TV to see what the audio setup indicates.

PANEL IS BROKEN ON TV

This is usually the end of the set, the screen unit is called a display panel and if available as a part (not counting labor to replace it) the cost of the part alone is more than the cost of a new set.

Sorry but it is a fatal issue.

What is the picture quality setting for a panasonic 1080i HDTV

Hi,
Adjust the video output settings on the devices connected to your Panasonic HDTV. To view 1080p programming, enter into the service menu on your external device and change "Video Output" to the appropriate resolution. By default, the Panasonic TV is always displaying content in the resolution provided for it by the external device. If your cable box is set to output in "1080i," for example, your TV will display content in 1080i.

Let me know if this fixes the issue.

Where do to plug in the cord to connect the tv to the DVD player?

Hello

You have several options for connecting your DVD player to your GV42L FHDTV10A - HDMI,

Component, S-Video and Composite (AV) inputs. Based on your home theater configuration, you can
decide which option is the right one for you.
connected to the HDMI input of the VIZIO GV42L FHDTV10A for optimal results.

To maintain the display quality, use a VIZIO certified HDMI cable available up to 10 meters or less.

1. Turn off the power to the LCD HDTV and DVD player.

2. Connect a HDMI cable to the HDMI output of your DVD player and the other end to the HDMI

Input (white color area) at the rear of the LCD HDTV.

3. Turn on the power to the LCD HDTV and your DVD player.

4. Select HDMI using the INPUT button on the remote or side of the LCD HDTV, or directly by
pressing the HDMI button on the Remote Control.

a) If you are already using the HDMI 1 input for another component, or you do not want to use

the HDMI 1 input for the DVD player, you can connect the DVD player to the HDMI 2

connection.

b) Refer to your DVD player user manual for more information about the video output
requirements of the product.

I am trying to use my 32 inch Insignia HDTV as the display for my 13 inch macbook. I got an adapter for the vga, connected everything and turned then on. The display only shows one of my desktop pictures...

--==<[ DVI to VGA vs. DVI to HDMI ]>==-- Caleb, what you really want to do to get your Macbook working with the Insignia HDTV is to >RETURN< and exchange the DVI to VGA adapter for a DVI to HDMI adapter. This is assuming your hdtv has HDMI inputs (which I'm pretty sure all the insignia ones do! I own a 1080p 32" Insignia HDTV and it has 4 HDMI's). The reason you should exchange them is that DVI and HDMI are essentially the same connector (and a better connection than VGA), the only difference between DVI and HDMI is that HDMI additionaly contains two audio channel wires. HDMI (which is a smaller version of DVI) is a digital signal and will give you perfect picture quality compared to the analog 'pc vga' type connector you were converting it to with the adapter you described (not to mention it will probably just work immediately since there is intelligent 'handshaking' that goes on with an HDMI connection, so it will tell your HDTV what resolution to use rather than it having to guess....)
I am guessing by now you solved the problem since it was in June that you posted and it's now November as I write this, but I figured you're probably not the only one who tried hooking it up that way. And most people don't seem to realize that DVI and HDMI are essentially the same type of connection, just smaller, with audio added. So someone will most likely benefit from this posting =)
