When I put the key in it speeds up immediatle. I have tried to stop it by pressing the conolse stop button or the speed button but neither work . The only way to stop it is to pull the key out.

You have to put the safety key in if you want to select speed/incline or predefined programs.
It starts and runs at full speed on that occasion because it's part of the maintenance process, that lubricates the inner rollers so that it will continue to work perfectly for as long as possible.
SOURCE: there's power but the machine itself won't work.
Hi, check if it is possible: main fuse in electronic board, normally all the board has a small relay, so when treadmill is on 4 or 5 seconds relay sounds with a click, if you press start and treadmill doesn´t move could be a problem with PMW circuit, MOSFET, Diode, diode zener and small transistors.
Best regards.

I have the same treadmill with the same problem statement. Here is how I fixed it:....Open the lower shroud that covers the motor. You must remove 4 or 5 screws. Taped to the inside of the shroud should be a document with a calibration procedure on one side and electrical specifications on the other. It will tell you how to run the calibrations. You need to hold the stop button and the + speed button as you insert the safety key. This will put you into calibration mode. My treadmill started working again after I ran the incline calibration routine. Hope this helps.

That sounds like a motor control that is shorted out,the only thing you can do is replace the motor control. When replacing the controller follow the instructions to calibrate it to the console.
SOURCE: NordicTrack Z7xi treadmill console buttons not working
Hello there. It sounds as if you may have a button stuck on your console. Thus not allowing any other buttons to be pushed. (i.e. the 4 beeps). This is usually caused by the i-fit buttons (silver buttons on the front). If the machine is only 4 months old you should still be under warranty (1 year) I believe. This problem in most instances requires the console be replaced. You can contact nordictrack through iconservice.com or by using the number on the fron of your users manual.
Good Luck! Tim
