It was pretty tricky without instructions but trial & error brought me to a successful resolution. This machine comes from the factory set to connect directly to a television with supplied RCA cable. Do that before you connect to a VGA monitor. Using the remote control, press setup and then go into "preferences" and look around for "video" and then to "VGA". Once you click "VGA" the TV screen goes frighteningly blank. The next obvious step is to hook it to the VGA cable and VGA monitor. If your computer is also hooked up and on to the monitor there is no karaoke picture. Shut off or disconnect computer and presto, there it is. <br>

No digital/coax/analog signal at all

If you are getting a disk error, then the laser has failed.

If you are NOT getting a disk error and the display shows that the disk is being played, but there is no output as you stated, then the circuit around the DAC has a problem. I would check the cables between the laser and Main PCB first.

I have a hanns.g hw191d monitor which has vga and dvi, how do i switch between the two

Generally speaking this monitor will start up in "auto" mode which will detect which in put has a signal and select that input. If you have both cables connected and active, hit the menu buton and scroll down to select the input.

I have a Techinics SL-PG3 CD Player connected to a amplifer & speakers. I would like to connect the cd player direct to my tv instead to play cd's and to listen to the cd on my tv is this possible ?

Generally, on most modern tv's the answer is yes. if you're connecting via an A/V amplifier then no problem at all but you stated that you're after a direct to tv connection.

But the answer depends entirely on the make and model of tv and whether it has standard left and right phono inputs. If it only has Scart sockets (UK/Europe only) then there are adapters which will do the job.

As you haven't given any details at all about your tv I cannot give you any more specific details.

The definiton in the manual suggests you are trying to record a digital bitstream that is either dead or incompatible with the recorder. Go analog.

What happens if you skip the receiver? Be advised that anything coming in digitally through a cable/satellite box may be muliti-channel and convertible by the player to its native 44.1 khz sampling rate.

Only the sub-woofer is on , not the other speakers

Did it ever work and then spontaneously fail; are are we starting with a new unit and may not have it set up correctly?

If the latter, see page 5 in the manual on speaker connections...

Connect the speaker cables.
A
Confirm the colors of the tags on the ends of the cords.
B For White tags:
Connect cords to grey terminals.
For Blue, Black and Red tags:
Connect cords so tag colors match the terminal colors.
Cords with white and blue tags are for high frequency.
Cords with red and black tags are for low frequency.
Incorrect connection can damage the unit.

Problem with analog recording on Yamaha CDR D651

Your assessment that it duplicates CD's internally fits with an analog-only failure mode. Let's make sure the signal is getting past your RCA jacks on the deck...

Put the deck in a Rec/Standby mode and make sure an analog source registers adequate volume on the meters. If it's good there and doesn't change with cable swapping between the input channels, you're right, the problem is internal. Maybe the volume potentiometer itself has developed a dead spot. Manually rotate it throughout its range many times to wipe it clean.

If you have an external optical digital source use it to check the meters in digital recording mode to be sure they're about even. The same knob affects analog and digital levels.

If you have the deck connected via the traditional Tape Monitor circuit in a receiver you should be able to tell by ear if the one channel is dead or too low. This puts all of the recording circuitry including the volume knob in line with your receiver.

I have hooked my CDRW 120 but it isn't recording, need to know

Connect it as any other analog cassette deck, to the Tape In and Tape Out to provide monitoring of the recprding. If you have the right types of digital connectors and cables you can use them, too, for digital sources but you maye have to still Monitor recordings via analog or else you may disconnect the desired input.

Details about your receiver would allow me to be mor specific.
