Question about Digital Cameras

1 Answer

My battery cover for my Toshiba PDR-M700 camera is broken. It won't keep the batteries in place enough to hold a charge. How can I get it fixed? I tried a local camera place and they don't fix this kind. I know it is an older camera but it still worked well.

The camera won.t turn on the battery charger blinks red when trying to charge both of my battreies

I had the same problem with flashing red light on my charging dock (within 10 sec after 2nd green light came on). I did fix it. There is a rust brown securing tab that holds the battery in place. Mine must have a broken spring..... So, I put the battery into my camera, pushed securing tab over the battery and then wedged a toothpick tip to keep battery tab in place. Once back on the charger, I had no more flashing red light. The battery is charging correctly. The problem was that the battery was not held down into place correctly. I now just have to unwedge the toothpick tip to remove the battery...but not really an issue at all as I keep the battery in there all the time. Very easy fix!!!
Others suggested to reseat the plastic dock. But mine was secure. Somewhere there is not a good battery connection that is causing the red flashing light. I am thankful to figure it out. Hope this helps you.

PDR 3330 WILL NOT TURN ON

Your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your batteries may need to be replaced, or the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

I press the shutter button a red light flashes in the viewfinder

Your focus or lighting is too low for the picture. Add more light, and hold the button down half way to self adjust to see if it goes away. Change the battery to a lithium battery, which helps the digital cameras work their best.
Let me know if this helps.

Charging battery

Hi Pat, When charging the battery the light should definitely be red. When it turns green it's charged. I would exchange your camera for another PDR-M5 if you can. I actually had to do the same thing - noticed a big difference with the second one - including fit and finish....think that maybe Toshiba has a quality control issue. I just returned mine (second one) yesterday - was a hard decision - love the features - 3X zoom - video - speed, etc.....but got fed up with the picture quality indoors - too many out of focus - couldn't count on it. Also all pictures - in/out - tended to be dark - drab looking - always had to lighten using the software before printing. This is a $1250 camera in Canada after tax w/extra 16 meg smartmedia which you need at the minimum so there are no excuses. Hope you have better luck with yours!

Poor exposure when using the flash

I read in another Toshiba forum where some users were putting a small piece of electriacal (black) tape over the flash sensor, and their indoor photos with flash turned out spectacular, since it allows the camera to apply more light . Actually fools the camera but it works. You might want to experiment with it..

Battery

there could be few reasons for that: 1. You are using the camera in extremely cold conditions - Put the battery in your pocket or another warm place to heat it and then load it into the cameras just before taking a picture. 2. The terminals are soiled - Wipe the battery terminals with a clean, dry cloth. 3. The battery has reached it's effective life - Load a new fully charged battery.
