Missplaced CD & need help recovering publisher

My son thought he was helping me. He defragged and remove my publisher and pdf. I did a restore to get it back. Got it back but not all.
It will open but no graphics and my previously made files will not open

How did Defragging remove a program??
Are you sure that is the reason it is gone?
Try to do a repair from 'add and remove programs'
