GR-D90 will no longer record onto memory card

I have a GR-D90 and I can't get it to record onto a memory card. Going through "set-up" by pressing the wheel, it won't even give me the option to do so. Yes, the button is set on "DSC" and not "VIDEO". I tried to place a new 8GB SDHC card in it and the screen gives me a "card error". I then placed a regular SD card in it after that, and the "card error" disappeared, but no luck recording.
In the past, I might have removed a card while the camera was powered on. Could that me the problem? If so, how do I resolve it? Much thanks in advance for a quick reply; for it is the x-mas season to record our toddler. Jason

CHECK CARD’S WRITE PROTECTION SWITCH.

Remove the memory card once and insert it again. Repeat these procedures until no indication appears.

Removing when the camera is on, could be causing this problem...As you should first turn the camera off, then remove the memory card... :)

Also, let me check for any other solutions for your problem...

Thank you

Hey,
The card error comes most likely becouse the card is not formated properly, there should be a format card option in the menus somewhere.

Also try to restore the camera to default settings it should restore it the way it was.
I'll look into it, Thanks, report back how this goes.

I have a GR_D90 Camcorder- it will not read the memory card-New 16gig-SD card what shall I do? will the recorder still work if the card does not? where can I get replacement CD-rom for this camcorder?

According to the manual, the GR-D90 works with MMC or SD cards. Your new 16GB card is actually an SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) card. While SDHC cards will fit into an SD slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work. SD cards max out at 2GB in size.

How can I video with the memory chip in my camera GR-DX307

Insert memory card, set to camera mode and set to memory, then hit the E-MAIL/INFO button and then you can press rec start/stop button as if your are recording on tape. It is a low quality video(email clip). To play, slide the power button to PLAY and press select(beside E-MAIL Button) and choose E-MAIL CLIP. Thats it. Good Luck

You can get a free membership on this site and download a manual, where, on page 18 of the pdf
document you will discover that the recording button is at the rear of the camera, at the top right hand
corner of the battery and at the lower right hand corner of the viewfinder, you can get tapes anywhere, even drugstores, and simply select memory card recording to record to your chip.

How Do I Make An MPEG Recording?

You can record video with audio onto the Memory Card. Follow the instructions below. Recording moving pictures onto a MEMORY CARD 1. Insert a Memory Card into the slot on the camcorder. 2. Set the mode switch to MEMORY CARD position. 3. Set the power switch to CAMERA mode. 4. Press the START/STOP button, the images are recorded on the MEMORY CARD in MPEG4. * You can record 10 ~ 20 seconds continuously. * You can record a still image on the Memory Card by pressing the Photo button instead of the START/STOP button. 5. Press the START/STOP button to stop the recording. Notes: * Moving images that you recorded are saved in *.asf file format on the Memory Card. * The moving picture images on a Memory Card are smaller size and lower definition than those on a Tape. * The sound is recorded in mono. * The following functions cannot be operated in M.REC Mode. - DIS (Digital Image Stabilizer), Digital Zoom, Fade, Program AE, Digital Special Effect, Slow Shutter. * Don't insert or eject a tape during Memory card recording as it may record noise. * Don't eject the Memory Card during recording as it may break the data on the Memory Card or the Memory Card itself.
