I have a 42 inch plasma screen by lg keeps flashing

my screen keeps highlighting brightness.it makes the screen flash,i have the sreen on low power as on hight power it keeps flashing and going dark.its nearly impossible to watch,if i turn up brightness and contrast to 100 it stops flashing.
hope someone can help as i dont want to get riped of by spainish tv repair man.
