First plug in- no red lite- pushing power button blinks 4 times slow then blinks 6 at a faster pace and stays there. Stops 1 sec. blinks 6 over and over...push power button again blinks 4 slow pace then 6 at faster pace and stays continually blinking the 6.

Thankyou for such a quick response...hope you can help.

With both of error codes flashing, the problem is trying to figure out wich one to focus on. The flashing 6 code is an indication of HV failure which would then cause a vertical failure(4 blink code). There are so many things that would cause this problem. I can narrow it down to the "D" board to fix your problem. If I were there to troubleshoot it, I could narrow it down further I.E. flyback, HV distribution block. I suggest getting a tech diagnose the exact problem. I wish I could narrow it down better for you. Please take time to rate this solution and if I can be of further assistance, let me know

Depending on the what is causing the problem and of course the area you live in. If the "D" board has to be replaced it could cost in the neighborhood of $400. When I get a call to fix these sets, I try to diagnose it down to a certain component or circuit thus keeping it as inexpensive as possible.

First off I would check your lamp to make sure it isn't burnt out. Usually the lamp door is on the backside of the TV. On my 2006 SXRD its on the right side of the TV just behind the buttons. Here is a link to a diagnosis page

Sony KP-53HS10 rear proj TV - picture goes on & off

If the adjustment of the screen settings does not fix your problem, its likely that one or more of the CRTs (picture tubes) is defective.

And, the CRTs for these sets are hard to find and expensive.

Sony KP-51HW40 6 blinks

Hi Yeooow,
I guess you read the fix for my set wth the six-blink error. If not, here's the link:
My set is a KP-53HS30, chassis number P65A-A.
I found a bulged capacitor on the "G" power supply board and replaced the components associated with that circuit (6-volt regulator). If your set has the P65A chassis, I'd be happy to e-mail you the service manual I have, if it will help.

Green flashes then tv turns off

or a new lamp. you could first replace the lamp.
the screen might work fine for a couple of seconds, but then it fades away or deteriorates. This means the lamp is going bad.

Sony KP-51hw40 -No power

check all the fuses especially the pico fuses on the D board as the led should at least light up if the fusese are all good, then the set should throw an error code when you try powering it up. Let me know if you need more assistance

Power LED blinks red

it is a bad fan. it also could be a power supply. Quite often the real problem is dirt clogging up the fan(s) to the point that they need to be replaced. Operation of the set in a dirty environment is not a good idea

Fisrt off think of the age of the set. and then ask yourself do you really want to start sinking money into such an old unit? My advice, free as it may be, save your money for a new set. These older sets can be regretably costly to repair. Be warned.
