SOURCE: Kodak Easyshare camera turns on and off

Hi, here is whats going on, if your M763 is powering on for 2 secs and the lense opens up then go's right back in, there is a 90% chance you got sand in the unit from say the beach ?

here is a test , when you press the power buttion watch the lense you will notice that the bigger part rotates as it comes out, what you want to do is give it a little help Lightly rotate it abit more just at the point where it normaly stops and go's back in, the cam will prob stay on and work like normal.

now the hard part 2 things to try, a can of AIR from walmarts try to blow out and sand thats around the rings, i did this and have fixed about 20 of these's now, on the others you will need to take it apart and clean the gears and mech of the lense housing then put it all back together.

hope this helps

Possible solutions:
Remember you need to turn the camera on when transferring.
Try a different USB outlet
Try a different cable
Try a different computer.

If all fails please contact KODAK in order to arrange a repair or order a new cable. Remember your USB cable is covered under the same warranty as your camera, so remember your serial number when calling:

SOURCE: Kodak Easyshare Z1285 won't power all the way on.

you have a capacitor that will not hold a complete charge to power your camera. Capacitors are made to hold a certain amount of voltage to operate functions fully. If one of these capacitors gets a hairline crack they will lose their power causing a problem such as you have here.
Each function has it's own capacior so that is why the other functions are working still especially when it shuts off automaticly after you turn it on. Upon turning it on the camera is if set to take pictures the mode is set for the display. Simnce the display circuit is not functioning the camera will shut down itself. The cost to repair outweighs the cost of a new camera these days sorry to say

Hello

Thank you for using FIXYA!!!

This is a suggestion. If you do not feel comfortable trying it, you will need to take the unit to your nearest service centre. Feel free to let me know if you need any assistance.

The problem might be that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair centre for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you found this helpful.

Regards
Andrea

The dock keeps flashing red while the camera is in the dock

Please note that for the most of the time the Dock will only charge KODAK rechargeble batt. 1. Clean the battery contacts. a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth. b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera 2. Turn on your camera without the memory card. (If it works then it?s your memory card that is faulty)

Acts like the batteries are not working

I have the same camera and can tell you that mine did the same thing until I modified the battey conver contacts. I bought the parts at radioshack and did it myself for under $2.00 what is going wroung is the batteries are not fully becoming contact thus the camera waste more juice and thinks there was no battery change at all. If you planing to have this camera for a long time yeah sale it and get a Canon Slr you be glad you did.

Make sure batteries are NEW! Even half-way dead batteries will have negative actions on camera. Also if you have a memory card, try removing it and see if your camera act normal now. Some memory cards have different impact on digital cameras.
Kodak will fix any camera for $40.

All of a sudden, camera went dead. Won't turn on.

unless the bill says as is then by law theres at least a 30 day warrantee. I would contact where you bought it or contact the manufacturer and tell them the store wont exchange it if thatsd wjhat they say and if you have a bill of sale and as long as it dosent say as-IS then the manufacturer will cover it undere warrantee. contact them here at this #800-242-2424, or look in the owners manual for repair info. Good Luck

Noise during video recording

Turn off Continuous AF (auto focus) to prevent recording camera noise during video capture. When you turn off Continuous AF, you may notice a narrower area of focus or depth of field, especially if you zoomed to a telephoto position before recording. Turn the Mode dial to Video, then press the Menu button. Highlight the Continuous AF menu, then press the OK button. Highlight Off, then press the OK button. (On is the default.) Press the Menu button to turn off the menu screen. This setting remains until you change it, change the Mode dial, or turn off the camera.
