Question about Sony KP-46S25 TV

1 Answer

SONY KP-46S25 I have am looking at purchasing a used 46'' sony television and was wondering if someone could tell me about the horizontal lines on the screen. I have been told it might be the v-hold and that it could cost 300.00 to fix. I would purchase this television for 100.00 just wondering if anyone would know what might be the problem with it. It has lines that go across the screen only seen when up close but far away does not appear to be seen . thanks in advance for any help given

A "Gray Scale" adjustment may solve you problem. If one of the picture tubes is set too high it will cause these RETRACE lines. Then too a weak picture tube might cause this. If the horizontal lines are one color: red, green,or blue then whichever color that is shown would tell you which tube is set too high. Your set has 3 screen controls that control the brightness of each tube. One may need to be turned down a little. Stargazer

My Sony KP-46S25 TV is blinking red light and is not turning on, please advise.

Please update this with the blink count. The standby light shouldbe blinking a repeated count with a pause. This will indicate the problem circuit and allow me to provide you with the probable defective part(s).

You have to find the reason why the fuse is blowing. to do that you have to open the up the TV anyway. try another fuse and see if it burns. fuses blow because there is more current going through it than the fuse amperage can hold. it is probably a burnt resistor.

It sounds like you are going to need to have the convergence IC's replaced. Not really a hard job, but the job requires the proper tools, soldering skills, and a service manual to get the proper part numbers and to perform convergence alighnment in the service menu after the IC's are replaced. Good Luck

If everything else is fine-then the set needs to have the picture size adjusted. Sometimes this happens when there is a power spike. Otherwise you either have a voltage reduction on the curcit the set is plugged into, or your house. Or the power supply is gowing and not putting out enough juice to the set.
