You have 2 problems 1 is that your power supply is going bad and 2nd is that 1 of your caps. is going bad. the capasater is what keeps your screen vert. and hor. the part for this is cheap but very dangerous to put in. sorry about the bad news. i had a tv do this to me and sometimes i could hit the side of it and it would be ok for a while. hope this helps

I have a zenith projection tv model r56w36. It won't stay on. When I remove the back panel and turn it on, I see a bright flash coming from the middle bulb on the right side of it where It looks

better be very careful here, if a pop or flash near one of the three crts or picture tubes there is serious voltage there.

the tubes each have a sealed wire delivering at least ten thousand volts to each tube===I have heard this before. likely what you have now is the seal they place where the wire enters the tube (2nd Anode) is arcing.

tube has to be removed to get at and reseal that--not a beginner or doit yourself job.

Note: if you keep turning it on sooner or later it will destroy other parts.

TV Model # C27A24T about nine or ten years old. TV

Bad grounds and bad caps will cause the problems in this tv. You will need to replace several caps and resolder the tuner itself and that means taking the tuner out in some cases and rework it. This is very time consuming and needs great care not to destroy the tuner. And reinstall the tuner to the board. You need the cap check to locate bad caps and visual to see bad grounds on any Ic on heatsinks. If you are a do it yourselfer fine.. If you cannot do this I would just replace the tv.

Picture is dark

sitnlisten - yes it does appear your pix tube is getting weak, but we may be able to turn up the flyback alittle to brighten up the picture. If you take the back off you will see the flyback-large black unit with a wire going to the round rubber cap on the back of the pix tube.Look at the flyback there are usually 2 adjusters one marked focus the other screen, just turn up the screen a little bit at a time.If you turn this up too much you will wind up with retrace lines on the screen. You may also want to check the pcboard ass'y for a sub bright adjust, and same thing small adjustments. If this don't help your pix tube may be too far gone.I hope this helps. cooltek Feb.1/08
