My dvd/cd drive in not reading or working at all.

Try and clean the lens of the drive, test again , If the DVD is spinning and trying to read without success then it is possible that the drive is faulty.
You can recheck using device manager to see the properties of the CD drive , reinstall the driver, if DVD still spins without success then the drive can be the suspect.

When running your pc , open the drawer.> 2. switch off the acpower 3. remove powercable & sata or pata cable 4. remove all the screw from the back side 5. press clip to open the font panel 6. reverse the cd/dvd rw 7. just remove the cover 8. clean the optical lance 9. use a little( not much )oil place on two steel shaft 10.cover all the equipment 11.now you can fit to your pc Ifit does the same problem please change the cd/dvd rw because the lance has defected

Cd dvd rom not working it says driver missing or corupted so i uninstalled it to allow vista to reload but still no luck keeping getting same message

I had a similar problem after a virus attack on yahoo messenger ..it affected my cd-rom driver ...and pretty much all the rest ..but first it ...I tried to reinstall but no luck ...so ...until I reinstalled the pc with a clean install I mean from the disk and formatting the C partition ...I didnt get anything ..but it worked after ...so ..this is what I suggest too ..
but first I suspect it to be disabled too ...so ..restoring factory defaults in the Bios will be a good thing too...
also you might try to look for it in the hardware manager ...and try to install it ..by downloading its driver ...and than run the wizard for installing from there ...just click update driver ...if it will be in yellow with an ask sign it means that has no driver ..
but ..reinstalling clean its still the right way ...Keep in mind that installing from a recovery stored in another partition ..might not do the job ..cause either it sees it disabled...or ..the virus that cause it ..do not dissapear ..and restores the damages..
