Question about ESA EF402E 20" TV

3 Answers

Protected...TV 14 I was using "menu" on the esa remote and then the "menu" on the esa tv to turn "game" off so we could watch the "tv" stations. What happened: I went into add/delete and somehow some of the stations were blocked out and said something like this: "protected...tv 14." It appears that this is a feature for parents to block out some tv channels. Please help and assist me in getting our tv channels back to work, hence, unblock the ones that say "protected...tv 14." Truly appreciate all your help! I was trying to adjust the time on my tv and accidently got "Protected Program by TV-14." How can I remove this?

Hi,
The V-Chip parental control has been enabled, go into the menu and try to turn it off, have you set a password to it? if not try 0000, 1234 and to that direction the manual should have the code.
Whats the model of this tv is the one you have selected?

Ye, that is a V-chip error.

I think the protection is password protected, find the option menu and type in the password. If you don't know the password I don't know if there is an alternative way round, there probably is some method of resetting it.
Try looking it up in the manual.
Is this a new TV?
And are you sure it hasn't always been activated (by manufacture)? Or activated by a previous owner?
And when exactly does it appear?

for this u will have to go to your TV menu and go to V-chip set up, then go thru and see that you don't have any channels blocked. If you do and you are watching a show with that rating, you will receive the "protected program message".hoe tis may help..

To start unplug the TV power cord for ten minutes, to reset the TV set.

If this first reset does not work, then go to the TV menu, using the remote, and find the V-chip set up menu, then go and check on the menu that you don't
    have any channels blocked.
If you do have blocked channels, you will receive the "protected program " message when you tune in a protected program channel.

If you tell me exact model I can try to find the user manual and tell you exactly the procedure to mmodify V Chip settings, alternativelt check on TV owners manual.

How to get universal remote to turn the tv to game mode

Hi,

I don't know if this can be done with a universal remote, but if you can let me know which brand and model of universal remote you are using, I will check if it is possible. If your universal remote has an "AV", "SOURCE" or "INPUT" button, try these but make sure the game system is switched on so you are able to see if/when you have changed to the correct mode.

If you don't have the original Symphonic remote, you should be able to switch the TV to game mode using the buttons on the front of the TV as follows:

1. Switch the game system on
2. Press the "MENU" button on the front of the TV
3. Highlight "PICTURE" using the CHANNEL UP/DOWN buttons
4. Press the VOLUME UP button once to enter the PICTURE menu
5. Highlight "GAME MODE" using the CHANNEL UP/DOWN buttons
6. Use the VOLUME UP/DOWN buttons to set "GAME MODE" to "ON"
7. Press "MENU" to exit the menu and play games.

The menu should automatically close anyway if you don't press any buttons for about 15 seconds.

When you have finished playing your game, repeat the above steps to set "GAME MODE" back to "OFF" and return to watching TV.

Hope this helps. Please post back for further assistance if needed.

Regards,
BElectric.

I don't have a remote for my ESA TV. How do I get onto the menu screen?

I have a 19" ESA. The Charter Code didn't work, so my sister suggested we go through all of the codes (for all the TV's). Thankfully, we didn't have to go past the A's. The code that worked for us was 052.

What station do i use to watch the dvd and do i push the up arrow?

You don't use a channel. Make sure your DVD player is hooked up via the AV/Input on the back of the TV. Then, power up the DVD player and put a DVD in it.

On the TV's remote, press the "TV/VCR/SOURCE" Button until you see the DVD output onscreen.

If you do not have the remote control, you must navigate through the menus onscreen by pressing the "menu" button on the front of the TV and changing the input so you can see the DVD.

Take care,
Rob
