Solenoid on Aprilaire 600

Last year I replaced a solenoid on my father's humidifier. Now both solenoids indicate they are not working (power and water-no flow). Is he doing something to the controls to burn out the solenoids?

Solenoid valves dont just burn up just like that you have a recurring restriction due to bad water.Check the saddle valve at the water heater first then check for postive water flow at inlet to the solenoid valve,if you have water flow the valve is clogged with sediment.

Check if there is power to the solenoid valve, if ther is , then the solenoid is bad and must be replaced. If there is no power could be a bad humidistat or transformer.

Aprilaire 550 not turning on

Hello, apply power directly from transformer to solenoid valve, it it does not turn on the solenoid valve must be replaced. If there is no voltage to the solenoid then follow the wires back and see where there is no voltage.

Hello, if you have 24 volts to the solenoid and the valve does not click open then it must be replaced. Also you can aplly power directly to the solenoid from the transformer and see if it will click open to let the water thru. either way looks like you solenoid is bad.

Humdifier not working after replacing filter. Have replaced before without a problem. It has been installed for over 6 years.

Hello, check to see if you are getting 24 volts to the solenoid valve. if you are and the solenoid does not open to let water through the solenoid is bad and must be replaced. It is also possible that one of the low voltage wires may of came loose when you were changing the filter, check to make sure that the wires are all tight. Let me know what you find.

There is no water coming out, i have an aprilaire 600 model with a manual controler

The first thing you want to check is that the saddle valve is open and that water is getting to the solenoid. If you are getting water to the solenoid but it's not going through then most likely you are not getting power to the solenoid. When there is a call for heat you should be getting 24 volts to the solenoid and it will open allowing water into the humidifier, if you are not getting 24 volts then check the transformer make sure it is giving you 24 volts.

Aprilaire 600 problem

It sounds like you got it...

The solenoid will not open with only 13 volts to it. Jump or apply the full 24-27 volts to the solenoid and see if it clicks and opens and allows water to flow.

If the valve still won't open or pass water, start looking for a plugged inlet solenoid inlet screen or a faulty solenoid valve as well as a faulty humidistat.

Aprilaire Model 560bone dry, water is on, what can I check?

Yes, just check to see if you have 24 volts going into the solenoid. If you do and it is not opening its probably bad. Since you verified the water lines, filter, orifice and saddle valves are not obstructed. Change the solenoid valve. When you price the part. (it's not cheap) consider paying about 30% more and just change the whole unit.
