Question about LG Flatron L1951S-SN 19" LCD Flat Panel Monitor

Open Question

LG Flatron L194WT-SF Will not turn on.

A week ago I was working on a word document then looked at a webpage then tried to come back to the word doc and my screen froze...couldn't go to my mail accts or back into the web or into word doc again. Got the screen to the windows start page and ran a virus scan then tried to restart computer. Windows start up screen came on then screen went black... took computer to be looked at and technician could only find a few minor viruses and he readjusted the screen resolution. when plugged it all back in I can't even get the screen to switch on. Have plugged all in, pressed blue power button on back and nothing happens. Is this the end or something simple I am missing?

SOURCE: I have a L194WT LG Flatron monitor. One day it

Same problem started happening two days ago and ever since. I called LG and the product falls under a 3yr product warranty according to them (from my original purchase date of January 20, 2007). They will send packing slips to me so I can send the defective unit back to LG. I was told I am eligible for a replacement monitor - which will be shipped to me within 10 to 14 days (consecutive days, not business) - although I'm not sure what I'm being sent in return. My suspicion is that this monitor issue is a known issue by LG and they are quietly replacing the unit to those who follow through by calling CS.

Tips: Have your original purchase date on hand (in the form of a receipt) just in case they want proof of purchase.

SOURCE: My LGFlatron L194WT-SF monitor

No reset button, more likely to have failed power supply due to bad caps, tha twill be the first place to look.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

SOURCE: Hi My LG Flatron MDL L194WT-SF just stopped

They have an internal power adaptor which does contain a fuse. However the fuse is soldered to the board so you need soldering skills to change it. Also, if the internal fuse has gone then it's probably because another component such as the transformer has gone in which case it won't help.
Unless you know how to troubleshoot electronic boards a component level you're almost certainly out of luck here I'm afraid.

Here are the service manuals: http://elektrotanya.com/?q=showresult&megnev=LG&megnev2=L194W&kategoria=monitor&kat2=all

After removing all the screws and the base, I use thin flat blade screw driver to crack open the case starting at the bottom egde and work your way around, just watch out for any cables attached to the front bezel. The monitor is not made to be easily open up.

Please read my guide so you will know what to look for inside the monitor.

SOURCE: my L194WT -SF WONT WORK

Hello Steve,

The most common problem with the L194WT monitors is a failure of the power supply board. There are parts called capacitors that fail and can cause the issue you have. Sometimes the power light will just flash, sometimes it takes several minutes to display a picture or even a wavy picture, all of these issues indicate a failing power supply board. These boards can be repaired if you can do a little soldering. The L194WT uses the same power board as the L196WTQ and we have a step by step repair guide with dis-assembly instructions available at http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/lg-l196wtq-bf-lcd-monitor-repair/ Look over the guide and check your board to see if your capacitors have bulged and need to be replaced.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Hi, I turned my computer and monitor off as I normally do last night and when I came downstairs this morning to turn my computer and monitor on, my monitor didn't turn on. I pressed the power button on...

You need your monitor repaired or replaced.
Unlike a computer, there is not much troubleshooting beyond making sure it is plugged into a live outlet and turned on which you did already.
Good luck!
