've looked for free map upgrades for my Garmin and could not find anything. I did find a lifetime map upgrade deal for around $75. It allows you unlimited upgrades for as long as you own the GPS. Go to the garmin site and search NUMaps. Go to the Garmin web site & register and that will allow you to upgrade the maps to current. You will also need to use a USB cable and install the software for your Garmin before you can do so.
If you need to update your maps, check this site for downloading instructions and downloadable ISO files for installing the more current maps. They may or may not be free, depending on your previous map purchases. They also sell the upgrade software, but its a little pricey. They are located in Australia.
Unfortunately Nextar GPS systems come with only USA/Canada or UKmaps , maps for other regions are not available, and there are also not much upgrade. Maps from third party usually do not work on this unit. The only way to know if a download is available is simply calling them at their toll free numbers, they do not make available online downloads:

The good thing is that upgrades and map are both free, while on other models you have to pay for maps.
Give them a call to unlock a download to latest map.
I'm about to return my Jensen NVX430BT because apparently the maps cannot be updated! The maps installed on the unit I just received are obviously outdated and there is no support from Jensen to get them updated. Too bad, this thing has it all except good directions.
