JUST BOUGHT A NEW INTEL PENTIUM PROCESSOR, WINDOW 7 AND MY OLD HP DESKJET F4240 ALL IN ONE IS NOT COMPATABLE. HOW CAN I FIX?

bet you are using the 64 bit version of win 7, if you are and your printer is quite old I don't hold out much hope for it because HPs attitude is that it is too old to be bothered with and its about time you purchased a new one. This I found hard to put up with as my equipment was working fine, but not with win 7. If you are using win 7 32 bit then you might have a chance by using vista drivers from HP and possibly if your very lucky you might find vista drivers for the 64bit version too. failing that all i can suggest is to look on the HP site for any universal drivers that might work for your printer. The scanner part could be a problem though, I solved mine with a program called "vuescan" which there is a good chance it will work for your scanner. i know its not the ideal solution but in my case it has allowed me to continue using a perfectly good scanner in windows 7 64bit. Your first port of call though is the HP website and if you cant find your driver just email or contact the support and ask if there is a universal driver that will work for the printer. Vuescan can be downloaded from http://www.hamrick.com/ and used as a trial version (it leaves a watermark on your scan result) so it wont cost you to try it out. I hope I have been some help to you.

S3842 uk FREEZES ON BOOT every time have to switch off. on 3rd or 4th attempt works fine. any new software that requires reboot - it does this without a problem. started 2 months ago with original Vista...

Upgrades are usually troublesome as they leave bits of the old OS in odd places. It is best to do a clean install.
Choose your OS, either Vista or Win7. XP will not work!
Always download the latest drivers for the OS you are using from hp.com or it will keep hanging and be unreliable.
Hope this helps.

Hmmmm. If your new HP has vista loaded on it, that may be your problem. The 2250 driver 65ii6565is compatible with Win 2000 and XP, but does not seem to play well with Vista. Some people have no problems, but most seem to. About the only suggestion that I have at this point is that you may want to download a new copy of the driver and see if that may work.
If you have problems finding the driver, get back to me and I'll be happy to point you in the right direction.
Hope this helps and Have a super day!

I change my computer XP for vista hp. My printer hp Deskjet F340 is not useful anymore. What can I do to fix it? Thank you

there is nothing you can do because vista has known compatability issues with HP printers and other hardware, you could go to the HP support website and look to see if any vista drivers have been released for your model, if not, you either have downgrade to XP or buy a new printer that works with vista
