Question about Nikon Coolpix 5700 Digital Camera

2 Answers

Overexposure My Nikon coolpix 5700 has been fine for 2 years. Suddenly all the pitures that I am taken are overexposed. Using the Compensation function to counter balance it does a reasonable job but it is not as good as it was. Any ideas?

Recently any outdoor (i.e. bright light) images taken are vastly overexposed - almost as though the shutter is stuck open.

Indoor (low light) or flash images taken are fine.

CoolPix 5700's have a common image sensor failure. Check with Nikon for recalls, this may be the cause of your issue. Alternatively the shutter may be stuck open, causing too much light to reach the sensor and causing over exposure as well as lines across the image. David Millier Advance Camera Repair

I have a nikon coolpix ss9900 and all my photos are extremely overexposed

Check your white balance, ISO rating and exposure compensation. BTW, no need to post twice.

Hi Andrew - look for a "exposure compensation" control on your camera. It may be buried in a menu; or an easily operated dedicated button on the camera body itself. You didn't include the model camera you have - so I couldn't look it up. Try googling: "exposure compensation model" where model is the model number of your camera.

Good luck!

Today my rebel xs was overexposing outside pics in auto mod. To get some kind of shot I have to go to manual with shutter at 1/4000, aperture 36, iso400 and still am getting heavy overexposure. Why?

The Rebel XS has an exposure compensation of + or - 2 EV in 1/3 or 1/2 stop increments. I suspect that this setting has been altered resulting in over exposures. It will not matter where you set your camera in manual operation it will still yield an overexposure.

Overexposure for pix seems okcamera 2 yrs old casio EX-S880

Check your "exposure compensation" setting. It should be at "0". You can set it lower if your pics are still overexposed and see if you can find a setting you like.

I bought the Nikon Coolpix about two years ago. Suddenly all the pictures taken are overexposed. What do I do?

Two things to check...ISO (should be auto ISO or a setting between 100-400) and Exposure Compensation (should be set to "0")

Nikon Coolpix 5700 Over-exposure of image whilst zooming in brigh

I now have the exact same issue. When not zoomed or fully zoomed the exposure is correct, however when partially zoomed the aperture does not engage and stays fully open. So basically I cannot really use the zoom or the picture is over exposed. Note - actually about 2/3 mechanical zoom and on works, so I can use a bit of the zoom.

Blurry images on a Coolpix 5700?

This camera was in the time when the ccd had problems.
Call Nikon concerning your camera. You can send it to them, they will estimate it, and may repair it for free if it is the ccd problem.
