Scan your computer using the "Antimalwarebytes". 5. Follow the same procedure for "SuperAntiSpyware" as you done for "Antimalwarebytes". 6. Update your antivirus program if an update wasn't performed during the install or you didn't have an Internet connection available to you during the installation.
Update your virus definitions, the "signatures" that identify known viruses. When you buy your antivirus program, you'll receive a subscription for an update service which will allow you to download any new virus definitions. The update subscription is often for a year, so eventually you'll have to purchase a new subscription.
Upgrade your antivirus program. Antivirus companies release new versions of their software every few years. The new version will have features not available in your current system. Purchase these new upgraded programs and you'll have the latest features, enhanced virus protection and a fresh subscription for virus definition updates.
Maintain your antivirus software by scheduling automatic updates. If you rely on manual updates, you can easily forget to perform them and your virus definitions can fall behind
You got a virus that designed to disable Norton. Do yourself a favour, uninstall Norton. Here a link to an excellent free piece of software for home users. Download it, install it, update it, schedule a boot-time scan, you wil be amazed by just how much it finds & it wont slow your system by being too labour intensive like symantec. http://www.avast.com/
Close the antivirus program and reopen it. When it isclosed, the icon yellow for norton will not appear on bottom right hand side along with volume icon etc. You may also restart the computer to see id that helps. Right click the Norton icon and see id it says ENABLE AUTOPROTECT or DISABLE AUTOPROTECT. Try enabling.Try the same update after a while. If that does not work, try reinstalling Norton. I get 100s of viruses from 100s of friends and all sorts of things happen to me anti virus etc
but I am told that pretty normal
remove Norton using this tool. Then re-install Norton. Or even better find one that works. Avast is very good and free to the non-commercial user.
Hope that helps
If you installed any program during this period or did any changes to the windows files, you might have caused a conflict that corrupted the anti virus files.
Try uninstalling the antivirus and any recent installations and reinstalling the antivirus.
Then update through the net update.
