Question about PC Desktops

I have a MSI K8TM-ILSR m/b in a Antec Aria case with a card reader. When I try to install WinXP pro, it wants to choose F as the drive to install the OS. Any idea as to why XP chooses F and not C as the drive letter.Kindest regards.Tim Lumsden.waimang2@gmail.com

Hi. Thanks for the quick responce.
I figured it all out. The "card reader" that was attached to a USB port on the mother board, was seen by winxp as a physical drive and had assigned it drive letters which stopped the main HD from being asigned the drive letter C and gave it F instead.
Removing all cable connections from USB ports on the motherboard fixed the problem. Win XP is now on primary HD, drive letter C.
    Whooohooo!

Because 'f' is the first accessable drive to XP, that does not have an OS already installed.

It could also be a usb drive - remove it and ty again

Emachines et1331 card reader driver

You should download the driver again for them and just run it into computer ..The driver it is available on the support site of the manufacturer..
choose teh correct model and the right operation system so that it iwll work proper..
To be sure that the driver it is all you need..just take a look in the device manager ..if the card reader appear under devices but either unrecognized or in yellow with a exclamation sign on it ..it means the devices are working ..but just end the driver ..if you changed the operation system ..you need the drivers for it to match .
by the way ...if you installed windows 7 on 64 ..the drivers should be for 64 system too ..
here are the drivers for this model

http://support.gateway.com/us/en/emac/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=1811
download and install the chip-set drivers ..In there should be teh driver for the-card reader too ..
do not be alarmed if the drives are not displayed ..it may be the case that it will display just the one used and when you use them ..Just install the driver s and after that take a look into the device manager and see if they are present there.. to do so click right on computer ..and choose properties and in there select device manager ..If they seam not to be present click right on storage devices..and select scan for hardware changes ..and will add them without driver if they are detected..If no detection is displayed it means the reader is not functional anymore or it cables are disconnected or damaged ..and this is the reason for refusing to load drivers..it simply do not see any device in the system ..
In this case get another card reader or use an external one ..

Cannot use reader 8.0,cannot remove it or install 9.0

oddly enough, you may find that updating the version 8.0 you have to 8.x will then allow you to remove it (or it will work correctly) can you open the reader manually in the programs list? if so open it, then go to help and check for updates. apply the updates. If they work you should be in good shape.

HAVE A 7 IN 1 CARD READER USB AND NEED A QUICK INSTALL DOWNLOAD

Hi there,

Do you have PlugnPlay Operating System (OS) like winxp?
If you have it, i think USB Card Reader not need any other driver couse sometime the OS has it own bulit in driver for commonly card reader.
Just try to plug it first, and the OS will detect and install it driver.

Hope it can solve your problem

Husqvarna 3D and d-card reader/writer software.

Ok I just magically fixed my d-card reader, maybe this will work for everyone else as well: It seems really simple, but I unplugged the d-card reader from the USB port, and plugged it back in. A window popped up saying "New hardware found" and asked if I wanted to install the new hardware. With the install disc in the drive, I clicked ok for it to install and it just did it and it works now. I didn't open the install program on the cd (at which point before it told me I didn't have the right customizing software and it couldn't be installed), I just did it this way instead. It was quick and easy... give it a try and good luck!
