My 99 Mazda Astina 323 (auto transmission) started making a rattling noise yesterday... went to my mechanic this morning and he said it was the timing belt. couldnt leave the car with him so drove home and it cut out as i got home. Got the NRMA to come around and the guy said its an electrical problem because there were parts of the engine that didnt have power... it still makes noise when you start it but wont click over. He said something about the electric modular? could it be that the timing belt because it may be frayed that its timing isnt right and therefore isnt firing right?

Have you thought about looking at the starter clutch, its possible that you need to have it replaced or a that the needs to be rebored, since it could be that your piston is what is knocking.

Cannot find spark plugs in 2003 323 1.8 litre mazda astina

If you follow the wires to the top of the engine from the distributor, they are under the boots when you remove them. Plugs are about 4-6" down inside. f2c5d262-e131-42d7-8496-0946d38b78c6.jpg

Have a mazda 323 2001 astina it is a manual gear box when driving a long the car starts to kangaroo hop in 1st gear, 2nd gear and 3rd gear 4th and 5th gear are fine can you tell me if this is a gear box...

Sounds like oil on the clutch plate lining, burned or glazed facings. Could be worn or loose engine or transmission mounts. Sometimes it is worn splines on clutch plat hub or a warped pressure plate or flywheel.

Mazda astina pop up lights wont go back down

Try to check if there is something stuck to the motor of the pop-up lights mechanism. You can see it below the fenders. The fender liner should be removed.

Battery for 1997 Mazda 323 Astina 5dr hatch

It's fine to use a battery with a higher cold crank rating than original. Consider the rating in the manual to be a minimum requirement. You'll be fine as long as the physical dimensions and terminal placement are compatible with your car. The battery manufacturer's guide should tell you which battery fits your car.
