Question about Digital Cameras

1 Answer

The battery is completely charged, but when i go to turn on the camera, it turns on for a split secong then shuts off. The lense is stuck out fully and won't go back in because the camera turns off so fast. Seems to be the battery, but it is completely charged.

I turned my camera on and the battery was too low so when it shut itself off the lense didnt go back in, now i've charged it and the lense is still stuck out. how to i get it back in so my camera will work

Here are the steps: 1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera. 2. Clean the battery contacts. a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth. b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera. Please make sure that you are installing a fresh/ fully charged battery c. Without the memory card, turn your camera on. (If it works then it?s your memory card that is faulty) 3. Please test with the a different battery If you do not have access to another battery Try these steps instead: Please take the battery out of the camera. b. Insert the charger into the unit from the main socket and turn the camera on. If the camera works you will need to replace the battery. If you camera doesn?t switch on you will need to order a No power repair or a new cable.

Hi!

Please follow the troubleshooting given below to resolve the issue:
(a) Turn off the Camera and remove the Battery then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
(b) Then, reinsert the Battery and turn the Camera ON. Please make sure that the Battery is fully charged.
(c) Next, press and hold the Reset button for 30 seconds located above the DC-in jack on the Camera using a sharp pointed object.

If the Camera doesn't operate normally even after performing all the above mentioned steps then service will be required.

My battery is fully charged, camera goes on and shuts off.

this generally happens if you have dropped it. when the message comes. try tapping the camera. if it works then you are lucky. if not then you have to change the lens array. it costs about 60$

Lens problem

I have had the same problem with a different camera, the problem started when I did not have sufficient battery charge to turn the camera off completely. The camera shut down, but the lense did not retract.
You can try a few things:
First try remove the batteries and holding the power button as if you are going to start the camera, then reinsert and try again. (make sure they are fully charged first)
You can try connecting the camer to the computer before you turn it on. Connected to the computer the camer goes through a slightly different start up procedure.
Try switching it to playback mode on restart.
If these fail I have a couple of tricks up my sleeve, but need to know the answer to these questions:
1. has it suffered water damage?
2. has it been dropped recently?
3. what happend when the lense did not close properly? Is this the first time?
4. Can you access the menus when "restart camera" is on screen?
Just post a comment back

Powershot G7 Camera won't turn on.

Same issue happened on Saturday. Only difference was the lens cover didn't completely shut when I tried to turn it off. I turned it on then off again and the cover shut....but it wouldn't turn back on. I fully charged the battery, but nothing. Tried two different batteries.

I was going to take mine in today to Wolf Camera in CO where I bought it.

Note that the camera was fully cleaned and and a new lense added less than a month ago by Canon (through the warranty program through Wolf)

Thougths?
Did anyone get any feedback?

Power/lens Problems

it seems that the lense movement is jammed. Have you dropped the camera? just have a close look from the front side of the camera, does the lense assembly seems to be pressed or moved aside by some extra preassure? if no physical disalingment is visible may be some sand or dust partical is obstructing the movement of the lense assambly. needs a help from camera repair shop.
