Is there anywhere to order a new backlight from ... my fearless teenager would be willing to try to replace it. Thanks

Unfortunately these small electronics are so proprietary, a replacement backlight would have to be one specially made by Dynex. Dynex probably won't sell you a new backlight, they'll just sell you a whole new unit. It'd probably be cheaper that way too.

But you can try. You can talk directly with them using this website:

And ask them how much a replacement backlight would cost.

Hooking the player to the tv

You should have cable inputs using the RED/White/Yellow

1. You plug this to the input on the back of the tv using the color coded plugs.

* Note if your tv does not have said plugs you might need a converter that plugs into the coaxe then has these inputs.

These are sold at any Radio shack or electronic supply store.

Just need a remote control code for att uverse remote, for a dynex dvd player DX-UPDVD2

First, there is no such thing as a 'universal' remote, even the 'learning' remotes will not learn from every original remote. Second, for anyone to help you, you need to post both model numbers, the player's and the remotes.
Generally, if a remote is only even a little older than the player, it may not contain the code set for the player.
