I have an S548 Aluminum canister vac that's about 6 years old. Tonight while I was vacuuming, the LED on top of the powerhead that is normally green turned red and the brush stopped spinning.
I took the brush cover off the bottom, took off the top cover, took off the inner cover. The wiring and connections all seemed to be intact. I took the back cover off the neck of the powerhead (where it connects to the wand) and the two yellow wires in there looked good too.
I suspect the powerhead may need a new motor. Can someone let me know what the red light might mean.
Thank you in advance.

I do not have any power to the motor on a Royal 4600 canister vacuum, although I do have power to the variable speed control (the neon light is lit and multimeter indicated 120V). Wondering about whether there is a fuse or thermal shutoff, or if the speed control triac is defective.

roller brush does not rotate if there is a belt I can't open that part of the vacuum to look. Vacuum is new but I vacuumed a string that caused the brush to stall for a moment. I could smell like when a belt gets hot or burns it's a surfacemax 300.
