Describe your problemMy printer is showing the toner is out. I replaced the toner and held down the go button and its still showing the toner light on. I tried printing and it doesn't print. What can I do?
The Toner light comes on and won't print. I was raving about Brother laser printers, and this is what happens!? Help, please.

Re: toner light won't go away.
Ok, now I can help you.
You have a fatel error in your printer. This is unfortunate, but I call them as I see them. The fuser unit has failed and will require replacement. A simple enough task for a technician, but it might take you a little longer. If you hunt around on the internet you should be able to find a fuser unit from a local brother service agent, if they will sell it to you. Otherwise you might be able to look up brother spare parts and you should find something.

Try this.. 1: Turn off power and remove toner/drum 2: Tape the little spring loaded lever just inside the printer on the upper left hand side in the *DOWN* position! Do not replace drum yet and... 3: Turn power on to printer and let it cycle. Status/Toner lights will come on as usual. 4: Turn off printer, remove tape from lever, replace drum and turn back on.
These printers rely on a manual lever on the side of the cartridge to tell the printer there is a new toner cart. The lever has two arms for the 550 (low yield) and one lever for the high yield cart. It sounds like the gears were not reset on the cart. Is the cartridge brand new, or remanufactured? I can give you more info on how to reset the cartridge.....
