Polaroid flm 2017 turns on then goes black sound still works
Polaroid flm 2017 two years old . turns on with perfect picture for about 2 seconds. then goes completely black. the sound and chanel changing is still working, just a black screen. turn it off and back on and the same thing happens over and over. someone said it was a capasitor for 4 bucks from radio shack. could i be this lucky?
Re: polaroid flm 2017 turns on then goes black sound...
This problem is often replated to a leaking power supply capacitor on the secondary side of psu rated at +/- 2000uf at 12v...yup 4 bucks should do it...the hardest part is often opening the power supply up screws are often located underneath rubber feet....never make contact with the primary ac supply side even after it is unplugged reservoir capacitor high voltage can store a charge for long time and be dangerous to contact.

Ur tv now power on only have picture few mins, than dead, have sound only?Yes,than the 1 or 2 the long board call the LCD inverter boards are dead. The LCD inverter long boards help the LCD screen to have a backlight to produced a picture.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy 1 or 2 long LCD inverter boards for the replacement.
my POlaroid 37" did same thing blue light stayed on no pic or sound was 2 electrolytic caps on power supply board took back off and they were noticably bulged at top radio shack sells these caps at $3 apiece fixed mine works like new saw a video on here how to do it
Sounds like the back light is out, and the unit needs servicing. You can check this by shining a flashlight close to the surface, and if some image is seen, the the back light is the cause. Else the LCD driver is gone.
had the same problem. if you take out the power supply in the back of your tv ( easy to get to just a few screws in back to get to the box then a few more to get into it and some quick disconnects) you can take it to a local tv repair shop and they can remove the two green capacitors in the upper left of the circuite panel and place in 16v ones that can actually handle the power needed. do not try to do it yourself although the new capacitors only cost 2 dollars one wrong move and you burn the wires on the board. the repair man only charged me 54 dollars well worth it considering polaroid wanted to charge me 500 to fix a 2 dollar part that should have been recalled. they are in the busines to make money but if any of us did what they did wede be considerd con artist. final note since ive replaced the capacitors my tvs worked better than when i bought it
