Hello,
I reinstalled XP on my sons computer and now that I am putting everything back on it I cannot connect to the internet. I have done this a million times on other computers/networks. I have a 2wire modem through At&t. I Linksys wireless-G (wmp54g) adapter. When I run the install disc I get , You are connected to the Access point, but the internet cannot be found. I have never had this many problems trying to connect and I have been working on this for way way to long on my day off! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
1. uninstall the WLAN monitor from add/remove programs.
2. restart computer. it should say "found new hardware" (for the WMP54GS)
3. insert the installation CD for the WMP54G, but make sure that you do not install the WLAN monitor. just install the drivers for the card.
Then let windows control the wireless.

I've tried that several times last night but it didn't work. Maybe after 8 hours of messing with it I did it wrong so I am going to try it again now and see what I come up with. Thanks for your help.
Do not use the disk that came with the adapter. Let windows control the wireless.
Make sure the drivers are installed correctly.
When you install the driver for the adapter, it should give you the option to allow windows to control it. Select it and the use "View wireless networks" on the right hand tray near the clock.
