The three likeliest candidates are battery, A/C adaptor and laptop power socket. Battery ? Batteries typically last between 1.5 to 4 years, depending on design and use. They are not safely repairable by users or most computer shops despite what you may read. If you remove the battery from the laptop and can run just off the A/C adaptor then the battery is probably the cause. The next test would be to use the battery in another laptop to see if the same problem occurs there. If it does then the battery is defective and needs to be replaced. If the battery does work then it?s likely the charging circuitry in the laptop itself is defective. A/C adaptor - Even though the green LED on the adaptor is on it can still be the cause of your problem. Inspect the cord, especially the jack that plugs into the laptop. The jack typically takes a lot of abuse and it?s common for the cord to be damaged at the base of the laptop jack itself. Often the damage isn?t visible; however, wiggling the wire at the base of the jack can cause the laptop charging LED to come on and off. The only way to truly test the adaptor is to measure the voltage coming out of the jack under a load. The last part is very important; simply measuring the voltage with a meter does not accurately test the adaptor. An easier alternative if you have the option is plugging a working adaptor into your laptop. Laptop power socket - Most times when the power socket in the laptop goes it?s due to a broken solder joint or a broken socket. Inserting the A/C adaptor jack in the socket and wiggling it back and forth can often cause the charging LED on the laptop to turn on and off. If that happens then the socket or the board it connects to needs to be replaced. That requires a major disassembly and is usually beyond the typical user. I have an Acer G246HL. When I turn it on the power saver symbol comes on, then the screen goes blank. (ie no picture)

I would suspect the battery is failing in this, even with the AC wall plug adapter connected the unit's battery must be good to function correctly, the AC wall charger is designed to charge the battery not power the entire PC laptop.

recommended a reset. First, power down and remove baterty. Second, unplug
AC Power adapter from computer AND wall. Third-Wait till green light goes
out. In my case, went and got coffee and watch a show. Fourth plug adapter
into wall and computer and power up WITHOUT the baterty installed. After
boot up, insert the baterty. It worked?!!?!

Dell latitude 100L power light flashes green as if

It sounds like you have a bad AC adapter . When you plug it in to the outlet in the wall and into your computer , do you see a charge indicator light on the computer? I'm asking you this because even with a bad battery your computer should operate without any problems with the AC adapter plugged in.

Not charging

which green light?

light from the ac power adapter or the light from the battery?

if ac power adapter you are referring to try a diff power wall socket if ac power adapter still off then replace ac power adapter alone.

if battery light is off but the laptop works fine with ac adapter alone try updating the laptop BIOS.

if ac adapter light turns off when it plug to the laptop replace motherboard.

My Acer Aspire 5920 is not booting up. When the power supply is plugged into the wall, its green LED is solid. As soon as I plug it into the laptop, the light starts to flash. When connected to the AC...

Your motherboard is probably shorting out your A/C adapter, you may need a new motherboard. With a Dell, the A/C adapter light will be green when plugged into the wall but as soon as you plug it into the PC the green light goes off. Which means that the Motherboard is shorting out the A/C adapter...

hope this helps

Dell 9400 wont show AC power icon

If the computer is connected to an electrical outlet, the about10.jpg light operates as follows:
  • Solid green: The battery is charging.

  • Flashing green: The battery is almost fully charged.

If the computer is running on a battery, the about41.jpg light operates as follows:
  • Off: The battery is adequately charged (or the computer is turned off).

  • Flashing orange: The battery charge is low.

  • Solid orange: The battery charge is critically low.
Looks like the AC adaptor is faulty.

Acer 3000 Will Not start

From what you've described so far, it appears the motherboard has failed. Additionally you can remove any other components you can easily access such as hard drive, optical drive, memory and any cards. If there is no change with all components removed then it is most likely the motherboard.

My charger won't work so now my computer wont turn on

Unplug you ac adapter from the wall and plug a lamp in to verify that the wall plug is working correctly. Pick up the adapter to see if it feels warm. Most adapters will feel warmer than room temperature if they are working,
If the cords on your adapter can be unplugged from the adapter, reseat them. Try the ac adapter in another wall plug to see if it comes on. The adapter may have an LED on it that indicates whether or not it is on. If it doesn't, about the only way to check it is to use a multimeter to see if there is any voltage on the plug that goes into the back of the laptop. If something else will work in the original wall plug and the adapter won't work in another wall plug, you will need to obtain another ac adapter.
Once you've tried these things, let me know and we'll go from there.
