Cleaning is not the solution. The switches have to be removed and have new ones installed. this needs soldering. If you don't have any experience I recommend finding someone who knows about electronic repair

My gameboy advance sp resets for no reason then sometimes also if I touch the game pack or the screen part it will reset then too.

Important Note:
A few older Game Boy games may not function properly on the Game Boy Advance systems, causing display or sound problems. Also, a few multiplayer games may not work properly.

Note: It may be difficult to play Kirby's Tilt 'n' Tumble due to the motion sensor in the game, and the different orientation of the Game Pak in the Game Boy Advance SP.
Because the Game Pak is situated upside down in the Game Boy Advance SP, players would need to tilt the game in the opposite direction of where they want Kirby to roll.

Note: It is possible that the problem you have may be game play related. For example, if you cannot defeat a particular enemy, or are missing an item you need to complete an area, the problem is likely game play related and there is nothing wrong with your game. Please check our game play help for assistance.

General Game Pak Troubleshooting Steps:
Check the list of specific game issues to see if there are any known problems for the game you are playing.
Make sure you are using only licensed accessories with your system. Unlicensed products are not fully compatible with Nintendo systems, and may not work correctly.
Remove and firmly re-insert the Game Pak into the system. The Game Pak label should be facing away from the machine. Be sure the Game Pak is fully inserted. You will know it is fully inserted when you hear it click in place.
Turn the system on and test the game again.
If it still doesn't work, remove all accessories to see if the Game Pak works correctly without the accessory. If the game does work correctly once the accessory is removed, then the game pak and the accessory may not be compatible. Check the game pak instruction manual.
What to do if Troubleshooting doesn't help

Game Boy Advance Games
We recommend contacting the manufacturer of the game. We can only offer assistance on titles made by Nintendo. For titles made by another company, you will need to contact that company to see if game pak replacement options are available. Please use our Licensee Directory to find the company's contact information. If you are not sure who made the game, you can use the Game List section on this website to look up the game. Who made the game is provided under "Publisher" information. If the game is made by Nintendo, please click here to find out what options are available for repair or replacement of your product.
All Other Game Boy Games
Due to the age of these games, repairs are unavailable. We recommend purchasing a replacement from a retailer or online auction site that carries older products. For more information on locating older products, click here.

My sp will not charge, I am not sure if it is the battery or something else

Game Boy Advance SP - Charging Light Won't Display If the orange-colored charge light on your Game Boy Advance SP is no longer coming on when the A/C Adapter is connected to your system, please use the following troubleshooting steps.
    Troubleshooting Steps:
    1. Make Sure the Game Boy Advance SP Isn't Already Fully Charged
If the battery is already fully charged, the light will not display when the system is plugged into the AC Adapter. Play a game without using the AC Adapter for at least 10-15 minutes, then plug the AC Adapter in, to see if the light comes on. If it does come on, the battery was fully charged. If the light still does not come on, see Step 2.

    2. Make Sure the Outlet You Are Using Works
Plugging another electrical device into the outlet is a good way to check if the outlet works, or that the outlet you are using is not controlled by a nearby light switch. You may also want to try a different outlet.

    3. Try a Different Licensed AC Adapter
If the charging light doesn't display, try a different AC Adapter, if possible, to determine if perhaps the problem is with the adapter.

      • If a different AC Adapter works, you will need to get a replacement AC Adapter from our Online Store, or by calling our Consumer Service Department at 1-800-255-3700.
      • If a different AC Adapter doesn't work, or if a replacement AC Adapter is not available and the lights will not display, we recommend having your Game Boy Advance SP repaired. Check out our convenient repair options.

Note: Please be sure to include both the Game Boy Advance SP and the AC Adapter with any repair

Okay so i have this pokemon leaf green verson from my cousin a few weeks ago he said that it was really fun and he enjoyed playing it but there was only one problem with it and is that it doesnt save and...

Unfortunitally, it sounds like you have a bootleg copy of the game. This is essentially a Chinese fake that was made to look like the real game but actually isn't. They were very cheaply produced and as such won't work properly. The Pok?mon games are the most popular ones to be copied. The best way to remedy this is to buy an original Nintendo-produced copy of the game. This video should help you identify a real cartridge from a fake one:

Games are deleted

That is a problem with your individual game cartridges. The console itself does not store any memory, it is only designed to play the games. The game cartridge is what stores all memory. Don't get rid of your SP just yet.

I have a problem on my gameboy advance sp model unit ags-001., and i have a question can the gba sp play old game boy games? and what if its downloadable game can it work on the unit?

Hi, yes it can play classic Game Boy games. On the other hand, if you reffer to roms as downloadable games, there is no legal way to do so, by any means, you would need a flashcart for that.

hopefully you already figured this out but that usually just means you put the game in slightly wrong. the games can get touchy in their old age, happens with pretty much all my GBC games I have now. just try blowing in the open end of the game, insert it again and hope for the best. keep trying, it'll work eventually.

Hi i have a Gameboy color and 1 advanced and they both have problems with the lcd screen it's so dark hard to se what's going on on it :) what's wrong ? can anyone help

you either play them under direct (sun) light or attach some kind of external light like a worm light for a game boy color/advance, but the light isn't evenly distributed. i have a halo light for my gb advance--better than nothing.
game boy advance sp has a front lit screen.
GameStop sells game boy advance sp for $40.
hope this helped some

Aside from contacting Nintendo for a repair (probably set you back around $40) you're short on options. Good luck!
