Muting is not designed to lower volume it shuts it off completely That;s why it resets when turned on and off. Unless by muted you mean you can lower the volume to a listenable level but it reverts to full when you restart it.
Try using settings and set the volume and the type of sound(mode) you want then when you exit the menu it sshould save those settings.
Assuming that you are using one, take the batteries out of the remote, then turn the sound up with the switches on the monitor. Tactile switches somethings get stuck. The mute switch could be one of them. If it is the one on the screen, check the "feel" of the mute button compared to the others. Damaged ones usually feel "flat".
The following is generic for most cordless phones:
Did you check to make sure that the phone is not in the intercom mode? If this phone has a base station speaker phone, make sure it is not on mute. Some of these phones have a fax connection. Make sure your phone line is not accidently pluged in to the fax section. Also if the phone has a fax monitoring feature check the the setup menu that the fax is not enabled. If the phone has an answering machine mode, make sure that this feature is turned off.
In the worse case:
There may be a defect in the X-Mit section of the phone. I would suspect the fault to be in the base.
that is not a problem. i have the same reciever and it has done that since i bought it. i read up on it and it is a protection feature in case you had the volume cranked when you turned it off it gives you 3 seconds to reduce volume before the amp turns on. that is why you may hear a click when the mute turns off. it is also known as soft clip because if the amp would turn on at the same time as the reciever it could cause a surge to the speakers damaging them. it is a feature not a problem.
