When i try to turn it by turning from the play and pause button it won't turn on. It only turns on if I plug it in to the computer w/ the usb cable and when it does turn on I press down an it doesn't scroll down it just stays on the same spot
I have the same problem! And, of course, I've tried to turn the switch to unlock. I've actually had the problem once before and it fixed itself when I updated the software. But, that was several months ago. I installed the newest update software 2 days ago and the problem just started tonight. I haven't found any info on the microsoft support webpage about this problem.

- I FIXED MINE TODAY!!
Well, I was really frustrated after I did a reboot and a system restore (which cleared everything off my zune and reloaded the most updated software.) It still didn't fix the problem. I called a zune support person and they were impressed that I had done all the steps that they would have asked me to do. She was ready to take my credit card information and have it sent in for repair. I am out of warrant and it would have cost $129.95 regardless of what it took to repair it. That is a flat fee for anything that gets sent in to be repaired. Obviously I was ticked.
So . . . I looked at the switch again and noticed that it wasn't perfectly flat. The long side was tilted down toward the screen with the back tilted up. I tried (carefully) to pull it up with my fingernail and finally got it to pop back up to proper position. THIS FIXED IT!
I'm not sure what would have caused this switch to be tilted, but I think it has to do with my hard acrylic case. I always have it in the case for protection, but I had recently taken it out to clean a speck of dust that was driving me crazy because it was stuck on the screen. The case is a very tight fit. I think the lock button got bent when I was taking it out or putting it back in.
I hope this helps someone else and avoids them paying Microsoft $129.95!!! Ha, Ha, IN THEIR FACE!!
