Question about Sony PS2 Dual Shock 2 Controller (PrePlayed) (PS2PRSODUSH2)

1 Answer

The "X" button is unresponsive

It can be pressed normally, it isn't stuck. The game won't respond though. I can always get a new one, but I've adapted to using this small one, about half the size of a regular one. It's a PS2 with all the regular button positions, except for the START and SELECT which are on the sides. Does anyone know how to fix it without dismantling it?

I guess it was just a fluke, I unplugged the controller and when I plugged it back in it worked fine.

If the onscreen message says "Locked" and then shuts off,
locate the Hold Button on the left side of your player. Slide that button
left to unlock your device. Then repeat Step 1 above. See The Basic
Controls section on page 5 if you cannot find the Hold Button.
If nothing works, try to remove the battery and place it after a little time (or a new one)

Ipod touch screen is unresponsive but it makes sounds like normal

Fix an Unresponsive Ipod Screen
Many of today's electronic devices including cell phones, music players and portable game systems have a touch screen.
When a touch screen fails, it does not respond when you tap it with your finger or a stylus.
This can happen due to several reasons, such as a screen protector, dust or improper calibration.
You can often fix an unresponsive touch screen by cleaning it or resetting the device.
Remove the plastic touch screen protector sheet.
Some protector sheets are too thick and prevent the touch screen from responding to your touch. If you must use a protector screen, only use one that is licensed for your specific device.
Wipe the screen with a soft microfiber cloth.
Clean off any dirt, dust or fingerprints on the screen.

Dry your hands thoroughly.
The touch screen will not respond if your hands are wet.
Reset the device.
If your device does not have a "Reset" button, remove the battery, memory card or SIM card, then reinstall them.

Delete any third-party applications you recently installed.
Some third-party applications can cause your device to lock up or freeze.

Recalibrate the touch screen.
Look in the device's Settings menu for a calibration option and follow the prompts.

Press the "On/Off-Sleep/Wake" button if you need to restart the iPod touch, and hold it until the red slider appears on the screen.
Slide your finger over the slider to turn off the device.
Press the "On/Off-Sleep/Wake" button and hold it until the iPod touch turns back on.
If you can't turn off the iPod touch, you can try resetting it.
Press the "On/Off-Sleep/Wake" button while simultaneously pressing the "Home" button when you want to reset the iPod touch, and continue to hold the buttons for at least 10 seconds, until the screen goes black and the Apple logo appears.

Archos 97 carbon tablet has frozen, cannot turn off or nothing have tried holding power key but still unresponsive

it is dead easy. just get a paperclip and open one side of it, now look on the side of the 97 there is small hole between the USB port and the flash sd card, insert the paperclip end an hold until the system resets itself.
All will come back to life after pressing the power button..
No data wil be lost, I have done it lots of times.

SYSTEM DOESN'T RECOGNIZE CONTROLS HOW DO I FIX

I'm guessing the issue is that the PS3 isn't responding to your controller input.

Ensure that the PS3 controller is actually on. You can turn on the controller by pressing the Playstation button in the center of the controller. There will be a red light on top of the controller indicating that it is on.

If no light shows up, it's possible that the controller simply has dead batteries. Grab your controller charge cable (should have been included with controller, looks like this) and connect the controller to the PS3 while the console is on. Give it a few minutes, then press the center Playstation button again and see if it responds.

It's also possible that the controller just isn't synced to your PS3. Again, grab the charge cable and connect it to your PS3 while it's on. Then press the Playstation button while the controller is connected. It should sync it to the PS3.

If none of that is working for you, there may be an issue with the controller itself. The easiest fix it to reset the controller. There should be a tiny button in a hole on the back of the controller. Just press it (you'll need a paperclip or something to do it) and the controller will reset. I believe you'll have to re-sync the controller (using the cable again).

You should also try syncing other controllers to your PS3 to make sure that the issue isn't with the PS3 itself (which would be awful; I've never heard a PS3 breaking like that but I suppose there is always a first). If other controllers work then either your controller's battery is dead or the controller is actually broken. I don't think Sony repairs/replaces controllers so you may have to buy a new one.

It may be worthwhile to checkout their support page first, to see if anything helps before shelling out 50$ for a controller:

Sony Support
Sony Repair
Amazon - PS3 Controllers (I recommend Silver; it's ****).

Hope it all works out!

Hi, I have 2 PS2 controllers, the one was newly bought, the other, has been used for about a year or two. The problem is, the old one's R1 button is unresponsive. Well, it do responds, but only if...

Hi there,
you will need a rubber replacement for your R1 button, if you or a friend have a defective joystick consider that a replacement. if you can't find a defective joystick you can buy a ps2 rubber kit online. below are reference pics.
pcsyke_103.jpg

pcsyke_104.jpg

1. Remove 5 screws with a philip screw at the back of the joystick.
2. Split the two covers with caution.ck
3. Carefully remove the rubber beneath the R1 button and replace it with a new one.
4. Put together the front and back part of the joystick.
5. Test the replaced part and screw if you're satisfied.

Hopefully this information helps.

Thank you for using Fixya..

The AC Adapter Unit is getting very hot. The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L505D-GS6000. Is there a solution or is it recalled?

They're designed to run really hot.
If you hold your hand around it and it feels like a hot cup of coffee - this is normal. even if it is almost too hot to hold on to.

One thing to check;
Look on the bottom of your laptop for something like 19V 6.3A
make sure it is the same rating as your adapter, if it isn't you're using the wrong one.

You could buy another one to be on the safe side, they're not to expensive, but chances are it will run just as hot. (the more quality the adapter is though, the cooler it will run, but it will always get hot when plugged in)
Toshiba Satellite L505D AC Adapter

P.s. If i've grossly misinterpreted your adapters hotness and its actually starting to melt in spaces or smell like burnt electronics- buy a new one straight away!!!

You have to reset your iPod. (Note: This is for the 3rd generation iPod Nano)

To reset iPod nano:
1 Toggle the Hold switch on and off (slide it to HOLD and then back again).
2 Press and hold the Menu and Center buttons for at least 6 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

If iPod nano won’t turn on or respond

- Make sure the Hold switch isn’t set to HOLD.
- The iPod nano battery might need to be recharged. Connect iPod nano to your computer or to an Apple USB Power Adapter and let the battery recharge. Look for the lightning bolt icon on the iPod nano screen to verify that iPod nano is receiving a charge.

If the power shuts off during game play (even as much as 30 minutes after the system is turned on), then turns off and won't turn back on or the fan isn't working, the system needs repair.

If the power light flashes once when power button is pressed, then turns off and won't turn back on, the system needs repair
