AC puts generator into overload mode

Have operated succesfully for the past eight years a dometic CAL136 AC powered by a Honda EU20i generator, and recently the generator will go into overload mode. I have been advised to change thermostat which i have done and the problem still exists. What can i do to fix it?

How do i repair my dometic air con unit on caravan

When you say safety switch do you mean fuse or breaker? If your breaker is popping(110 volt) then if probably is your compressor overloading the system.i would do as advised before and remove shroud(cover on roof) and clean coils or fins with some otc coil cleaner. Ive been in the buisness eight years and only one time have i change a compressor. Most people get a new ac. Sorry for the bad news

I have a caravan surveyor pilot 34' 2014 and just got it a month ago and seem to have problems with acs.

your talking about a 6.5 kw generator should be adequate. try changing capacitors on the one with high demand for power.

I would like to know if my Honda 2kva generator will run my air con dometic roof top B3000

I dont think so as this will be too much for the generator which has only 2 KVA as capacity.
Though the rated power is 2 KVA it will be safe to use it only upto about 1.6KVA.
The AC will require a lot of current on start up than in running and so it might no be good to have it strained.

Circuit Breaker and Dometic Rooftop RV Air

Its the watts you plug in too like ither 30 watts vs 50 watts. 30 watts will cause your wires to get hot in the unit. just pull down your breaker box and look at those white ground wires.

Compressor short cycling

If the compressor is run off of a relay then you could install a delay timer to prevent short cycling.
