Zebra 110Xi III Plus Thermal Printer print quality degredation

My print quality is degrading (getting ligher in some areas and less legible in other areas of the same "print page" I purchased the $11 dollar manual. I will look at the printer on Monday, but the head pressure adjustment did not correct the problem.

I will take the printer head out and clean it. Should I follow the schematic to do this function? Is it a "plug and play" or do I need a PhD in micromachines?

There are two "plungers", mechanisms that push down. I can send you the schematic.

    Thanks for the help.

I looked at the schematic p.3 print head.

What about the Toggle Assembly (p. 4). What is the optimum seperation?

I have the same problem! We cleaned we checked for wear! And still the same problem.... So then I flipped the text out of landscape????? it looked better! Does that make sense? same settings, same font size, same everything, except the text box was flipped into streight up and down instead of landscape???????? Does that make any sense to anyone?

Check the platen for wear. If you are only using part of the full width of the platen, it will tend to wear on the unused edges as the printhead pulls down tight on the roller. You can see it as a ridge at the edge of the platen roller.

Also on the edge of the printhead, just to the right and the left of the label width, if you see a small white patch that would indicate wear on the printhead, and should be changed. Also at that time you should replace the platen.

You have to adjust them till you get good results. Because of the wear on the components, it differs from unit to unit.

Just follow the instructions carefully, it's not too difficult.

Did you take the print head out and clean it?

Also, the plunger that holds the head down can be adjusted and centered.

You can try cleaning the print head with some isopropyl alcohol and a swab but be sure not to touch the element with your fingers that can get grease from your finger on it causing the oil to burn out the element very quickly. You can also check the Print head element its self. What you are going to be looking for are white spots or streaks on the print head. If you see white spots or streaks your print head has reached end of life and needs to be replaced. If instructions are needed on how to remove the Print head and or identify what DPI Print head you have installed please let me know I can post something up for you. If a Print head is needed please let me know as well. I currently carry them in stock new.

If it is working , then it is nothing to worry about. If it is not printing, then it does not see the print head. Check the print head cables are securely connected.

Zebra xi III Plus printing shadows and blurred text on labels. Initial printing was fine but all prints now have a shadow and blurred text.

Try adjusting your printhead. If that doesn't work you might need to replace.

Please contact me if you have any question or if you come across needing a printhead for your unit.

I carry all parts for that printer in stock .

Hi, I have a zebra 110 xi||| plus which is printing extra labels.

Did you design the label? Do you have any control over the label design? This is usually a sign that the printer is trying to excede the page limit (usually by one dot row) and is going to the next label to finish. By making the label length slightly smaller, you can stop this.
