Question about Canon i9900 InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

Pixma i9900 orange light flashes 5 times

I followed the 2 solutions offered on the Canon site. When neither worked, I followed the "reset print head" directions I found on FixYourPrinter.com (also cited on this site as the only solution). That also did not work, albeit the directions were not for the i9900 specifically (& I could locate reset directions for my model). I also tried to find the i9900 repair manuaal online at 2manuals.com and another site but it was not available. Please, please help me. THANK YOU!

Hi guys,
Flash in orange 5 times indicates that the printhead is faulty so that the printer cannot detect the printhead. Rarely, faulty logic board and carriage unit may cause the same problem.
Regards,

I need a replacement print head for my Pixma iP 4200.Can you supply ?

You can obtain a print head from canon .

We dont sell products but we do offer assistance and solutions and ways to fix stuff, for example I'm now going to outline a way to fix your print head without actually having to buy one!

1.) remove the head from the printer (its called an ink well)

2.) Submerger the head of the inkwell into rubbing alcohol or a strong spirit
(the head is the nozzles under the ink well where the ink flows to the paper)

3.) using a straw slowely drop some alcohol on the nozzles which are located inside the ink well (the ones that touch the cartridge) (not the circuits)

4.) place on tissue paper, blot and let dry.

5.) replace and do a few deep cleaning's until it prints.

6.) U may need to clean your waste ink pads as well as u many need to reset your ink counter . If you need to do this click my name and ask directly to me and I'll outline the methods used for you.

In some cases if the above dont work, use this method as a last resort.

1.) Put dome water to boil.

2.) submerger the buttom half of the ink well (ink heads only) in the boiling water until all the old dry ink runs out. (usually 10 - 30 seconds)

3.) dry, blot.

4.) replace in printer and do a few deep cleanings until it prints.

How to remove ink in th full ink absorber?

waste ink absorber error message can sometimes be solved by resetting the printer itself. i havent yet tried in ip1880 but in ip1200, th e resetting method is this: (it might also work on other models)
1. unplug the power cord and the data cable(printer to pc) 2. while press-holding the (printer) power button plug the power cable (do not release printer power button until step 3) 3. press 'resumet' ( the button below the power button of the printer) button twice... 4. release the power button 5. connect the usb cable of the printer to the pc... - a new canon printer shall be found in the list of printers. use it as default printer

Canon Pixma MP140 Error 2 or serviceerror 5100. New printer, won't take paper. Cartridges are installed correctly.

oook --
As a technician, I have worked on tons of printers. This particular error had stumped me for a while, but I finally found the cause. As others had pointed out before, it can have alot to do with some obstruction in the print path, the gears, or ink on the clear plastic encoder strip. You're on the right track - I found the the purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) was not lubricated well enough from factory. If you lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps) the mechanism can now slide more freely, and the unit can park the head properly without giving you the dreaded head homing error 5100 (or E-2-2 on the LCD display) Keep in mind that this repair will probably require you to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism. There are two screws behind the printer, and two in front for each corrosponding side panel (the front screws are behind the grey front panel of the printer - open the top cover to see the clips which hold the front cover on) Hope this helps some of you out.

Error: The type of Printhead is incorrect, Install the correct printhead.

Ok i know this is kinda old, but i found a solution.

First to those people to state I found a solution from hp, cannon etc etc and not give out the direct link, or instructions, then whats the point fing posting????

This error happens when you install an oem cartridge onto your system. Or havent used it in a while, so the machine is somehow misfigured.

This solution is for canon mp800, simply switch off printer. HOLD stop/reset and press and HOLD on/off button. release stop/reset. Now press stop.reset twice. then release on/off button, press stop/reset 4 times, wait 20 seconds, press on/off button twice.

switch machine back on and the printer should find the cartridges.

This method maybe the same for your mp*** if not google RESET CANON PRINTER MP*** and you'll find the correct buttons to press.

here's a printer on reseting a bunch of canon printers http://tricks-collections.com/reset-printer-canon-mp140-mp160-mp180-mp210-mp220-mp460-mp470-mp500-mp510-mp530-mp600-mp610-mp800-mp820-mp810-mp830-mp960-mp970/

good luck.. and FU canon for adding you scamming chips into cartridges.
