Sony Bravia TV KDL-V32XBR1 picture

My Sony KDL-V32XBR1 has lot of redish/blueish dots on the screen when I use either AV or ANT input. When I use HDMI input, I only have one horizontal line about 2 inches from the bottom across the screen. However, the picture look perfect when I use VGA (computer) input. Can you tell me how to trouble shooting issue!

Try different cable, if you still get the problem after replacing cables, then you have a defective sygnal board (input board).

There is no light engine on this TV!!!!

"You have a bad blue LCD in the light engine" means nothing.

    The problem:

This happens only when you connect the HDMI cable, then the problem is related to HDMI input channel.

If this happens on channels from same receiver , it could have been the receiver, but I understood this happens on channels from different devices (AV , or aerial).

That means that there is probably a problem with the cable, or with the board that receives HDMI input on TV, called signal board. The problem can also be caused by a faulty device connected through HDMI, for example a defective DVDRW that is sending a bad signal through HDMI.

Try unplugging the device currently connected to HDMI, borrow a receiver or a DVD, and connect the new device to the Bravia using HDMI. If it does work, it was a defective device comnnected to teh TV

Test a replacement cable possibly a good one, with good shielding.

If it is none of the above, then HDMI input is faulty, and signal board, that is the input plate with connector inside tv may have a problem, either a short to the chassis , or the board needs replacement.

    Test the HDM

I have seen the picture, at a glance looks like something that can be caused by a bad cable, an internal fault is always possible, a lose contact on the HDMI input board can give you same problem.

First lets ensure that this is not a just a setting problem, Bravia has 6 AV inputs, I think HDMI input is number 5, ensure the TV is set to AV5, if it is , test all AV channels.

Test also a different receiveir, or a DVD on the hdmi, some device has problems with bravia HDMI.

You have a bad blue LCD in the light engine. Replacement of the light engine is the only fix and it usually will continue to get worse over time

HDMI-connection from my computer stoped working

HDMI is a very buggy system, espicially with connecting computers. First off I would check the video output settings of your computer to ensure that HDMI is still active and that it is enabled for mirror monitor or double monitor.

First things first unplug and re-plug at every point. Power cycle the TV and the computer. If that doesnt work then remove the cable, power cycle both devices then re-plug...then move onto the next step.

If you are running windows XP or Vista, right click on the desktop, select "personalize" or "properties" then look at the display settings. There you can adjust the resolution, HDMI has some bandwidth issues with long cables and cheap cables. Try dropping the resolution of the HDMI output if you can't get a stable image.

If that doesn't help you may have to go into the settings of the graphics card, commonly refered to as "Advanced Settings" on XP.

If it still doesn't help get another HDMI source and test the TV, then get another display and test the computer.

Cheers,

I have a sony bravia kdl 37m3000. We have cable and the wide screen would not go away so we unplugged the cable to reset the tv. Now the cable and the tv comes on but no picture.

Make sure you change the input that the cable is coming in on, If you was watching in HD mode then you was using an HDMI or compontet hook up.Look on tv remote for Video input button to select the componet input 1 or 2 or HDMI inputs which it is connected to. Look for a button on the remote called TV/VIDEO or INPUT
