Question about Aquacal HeatWave

Open Question

My Aquacal Heatwave runs about 15 seconds then turns itself off.

It turns itself off when the water is still cold and I turn the heat control knob all the way to heat/hot.
Whenever it turns itself off, the P+ HFF and FLOW LEDs are turned ON.
What is its problem? Can I fit it?
Thanks,
Nghia

I perhaps am seeing the same issue...Heatwave runs for about 5 minutes, then shuts itself off. It actually trips the circuit breaker. I originally thought is was an overload in the circuit breaker, until I shut off several other breakers, and then witnessed the Heatwave function just until the "heat" red light went on...and then bam...off the unit and breaker went. After running through the test several times...got the same results...unit run for about 5 minutes, and then when the red heat light goes on, the unit and breaker go off. I've concluded that its got to be something internal to the Heatwave unit...so on Monday, the first thing I'm doing is calling the pool and AquaCal companies.

Sounds like your compressor is not running. After your fan goes on in one to five minutes you should hear the compressor kick in. If it does this and then kicks out again it can be something as simple as water flow and you can adjust the valves to get more or less flow to keep it running. If not you probally need a repairman. It is ether your compressor or the capicators that start the compressor and this is all high voltage. Good luck.

SOURCE: HEAT PUMP SAYS WATER TEMP IS 99 DEGREES WHEN ITS

This is a bad temp sensor or an open by-pass. You would have to go to your book to find these though. I'm not sure where you would find them.

I HAVE NO DISPLAY PUMP DOES NOT TURN ON I HAVE POWER COMING INTO THE PUMP

I looked up the users manual for this unit and it said if the display was not working then "ensure the main breaker (located at the power supply panel) and the disconnect switch (located near the heat pump) are both turned ON."

If power is truly comming into the pump then the problem is likely either a bad power supply, connector problem or the display board. There could also be a fuse blown but that would likely be caused by a bad power supply.

I am not sure HeaWave will help but I recommend you call the HeatWave technicalsupport at 800-786-7751 and they might be able to help you figure this issueout. I hope this helps.

AquaCal Model 120 AHDEBNC message on panel wont clear. Message is FLO. There is water flowing thru the heater and the filter is clean

If you have a by-pass, (This will be a pipe that runns in between the in and out pipes on the heater) The valve must be almost closed in order to get enough volume through the heater to get it to run.
Make sure that heater has enough time to respond to this adjustment. It will take up to five minutes to start.

My freeze protection turns off and on every few seconds.. I can hear the motor turning off and on outside. Is this bad for the motor. I have it set at 37

Yes, it is bad for the motor. You may need to replace the temperature probe to ultimately solve the problem since it is more likely the probe is fluxuating that the control board itself. Another problem...Leaving it set at 37 anf then turning on the system to heat the water is not good for your heater either. Most if not all heaters want the water to be about 50 degrees to avoid problems with sever condensation forming with heater such cold water.
