I'm trying to play DVD's on my TV through my computer. I'm using a creative labs dvd decoder card... I have a little problem though.

My GPX 8" portable DVD player does not work for AV out or S-Video out to either my TV or my digital Sony projector that accepts AV and S-Video. My GPX settings for "TV" say "NTFS" is the only supported option. The AV cable is a brand new 3.5mm pin to red, white and yellow RCA jack outputs, also tried a second new cable, and also tried a brand new RCA to S-Video adapter on the cable to route via the S-Video out, no luck. So took it back to the store to see if they could make it work, thinking maybe it was a defective unit, but the same model on display didn't work. We also tried a GPX model at the store that does both NTFS and PAL, and that didn't work. In fact and we couldn't get ANY of the portable DVD players on display at the store (several models including Sony) to output to an external monitor or my digital projector! However, a $29 GTX non- portable DVD player on display at the store, worked immediately with TV's and with my digital projector. What's the secret to make it work to connect a portable DVD player to a TV?

the color is gone

Clarification Request

Thanks for tips! Yes, it's NTSC, not NTFS, my ancient Windows NT roots are showing :) Re 'color is gone' - I saw mention of that possible issue on Google, and there was some relation to the 'TFT' toggle. Is it possible that there's AV going out, but TFT has to be toggled? And if so, what is TFT anyway? Also would mention that since initila posting, I found mention on the gpx.com support site that AV out may require a gpx-specific AV cable bought from them. The pictured AV cable looked like the one I already have tho, 3.5 pin and red/white/yellow RCA..

First, you are talking about video standard NTSC,not NTFS.
If you have problem like colors wrong/gone and/or picture not stable vertically,try to setup both of equipment into same mode,e.g.
PAL -> PAL or
NTSC -> NTSC
if it is going thru vcr,then
PAL -> PAL -> PAL
NTSC -> NTSC -> NTSC
or something like this (applying in your case)
(NTSC only) -> (NTSC or AUTO) -> (NTSC or AUTO)

macrovision protection should not be the issue on RCA composite output.

The color keeps fading in and out. it goes from REALLY bright to REALLY dark.
Anyone have any idea what could be causing this or have any suggestions on how I might fix it?
Macrovision, Do you have the TVout from the decoder going into a VCR - That could be one cause, I'd say.

The player won't play the actual DVD from your computer, this is not supported. However you can access the VIDEO_TS libary of the DVD and play the .VOB files one by one from the computer. This is the only solution I know of that allows you to play DVDs from the computer.
