HP Officejet 5610v - Won't print black

Not sure what happened - my black will not print. It looks like it is printing but no black. Cartridge shows 1/2 full on screen - Does this with both black ink cartridges

I've cleaned the copper terminals with multiple Q tips, tried 3 different full black ink cartridges (it's not a cartridge problem), and still no black printing with test page or any other print option including "Use black cartridge" setting in print options. The only workaround is to select all text, select dark blue, and then print.

Can the printer print with only the black cartridge in or do you have to have both the black and color cartridges for the printer 5610v all-in-one to work?

90% of HP printers require both. I have not personally tried the 5610, but when I worked retail, I remember hearing a lot of complaints about it and HAVING to have both color and black in.

The reasoning behind having both cartridges in:
Ink is a liquid. When a liquid sits, it dries. Inkjet printers use print heads (microchips) to transfer the ink from the tanks to the paper. If these print heads get clogged. Say goodbye printer (or atleast is ends up costing more to fix, than to replace).

Black won't print, colo prints fine.

Check the level of black ink. Make sure the black cartridge is not empty. If it is empty, replace it.

Hi i have a hp officejet 4355 all in one printer at my place. i m having problem fixing with the cartridge as it is showing error. pls guide

Problems with Hewlett Packard Officejet 4355 printing can often be due to issues with the cartridges. The printer has two cartridges, one black and white, and one color. Both can be physically inspected for problems. The printer also has a self-test report to determine if there is a non-obvious problem with the cartridge. The report can provide valuable information, including status.

  • 1

Take the black ink cartridge out of the slot on the right. Be careful not to touch the ink nozzles or the copper contacts.

  • 2

Look at the cartridge and make sure that the plastic shipping tape isn't still attached. There shouldn't be any tape covering the ink nozzles.

  • 3

Replace the black cartridge and then perform Steps 1 and 2 on the color cartridge. The color cartridge is the one on the left side.

  • 4

Print a self-test report. Load paper in the tray and press "Setup." Press "2" and then "4." The HP Officejet 4355 will print a report. Make sure the lines of color extend across the page. Missing, faded or streaky lines can indicate a cartridge failure. If the color bars don't show as black, cyan, magenta and yellow, you should clean the cartridges.

Press "Setup" and then press "6" and then "1." The print cycle will commence. Allow it to complete and then print another test report. If the test still shows errors, replace the cartridges.

How do you change the ink carterage in an hp officejet 5610v all-in-one?

    Hello !

To change the ink cartridge(s) in your printer,

Open the print-carriage access door by pulling it forward.

The print carriage moves to the far right side of the HP All-in-One.

    Remove the cartridge.

Take the new cartridge from the package.

Remove the strip from the cartridge without touching the metal back.

    Insert the cartridge.

    Hope this helps.
