Ip 4700 canon printer can not reset the ink tanks. where can i get the service tools.

The 5B00 error code for Canon printers is the "Waste Ink Error Full" error. This means that the printer needs service, and will stay locked down until the Reset has been applied. Please be informed that Canon has changed all new printers over to the point that special "Service Tool" software is required to reset or "Service" anything in the printer. In the old days you could have easily and manually entered the Service Mode and manually reset the waste ink counter. Now you have to have the software to do this. The very bad news is that Canon is very tightly controlling and distribution of their Service Tool, and there is a different one for each model printer. Your only option is to take it to an authorized Canon service center and have them reset the printer. Most problem is that some people just apply the reset and never service the printer and sooner or later this will cause much bigger problems.

Follow this step to reset waste ink absober full.

1> download iptool to reset waste ink absober full
Download here ----> Service tool 1
Service tool 2
After ypur download finish
> turn off your printer power switch
> open your printer cartridge door
> press and hold on/off button (never release)
> turn on printer power switch
> push your printer cartridge door switch with pen or anything can press door swith.
> then release on/off button
> close open door
> then press on/off button 1 more
now your printer is in normal mode( no orange led blinking)
Then you can use ip service tool to permanent reset waste ink absober full.

1> turn off printer power switch
2> press and hold on/off button
3> turn on power switch
you will see your printer led bilnking
4> release printer on/off button
5> on printer again until led stable not blinking and you can start use ip service tool

Many ink suppliers can supply you with replacememnt chips or a reset tool. You may need to call a few before one will be willing to sell these to you but yiu will find them eventually.

Hi. I researched on this and found that these steps have fixed the problems most of time. Also, it does the required procedure automatically.

Canon Pixma iP1200, iP1600, iP2200 Resetter

1. Download software for Canon iP1200, iP1600, 2200 Printers.DOWNLOAD Service Tool Software for Canon Pixma Printer iP1200, iP1600, iP2200
2. Unzip downloaded file by WinZip, 7Zip, Izarc, etc
3. Run GeneralTool.exe
4. Select the connected USB port number from USB PORT
5. Click LOCK RELEASE, and select the applicable model name in SET DESTINATION
6. In CLEAR WASTE INK COUNTER, select MAIN or PLATEN. The selectedwaste ink counter will be reset. MAIN resets the main waste inkcounter, PLATEN resets the platen waste ink counter.

If both the main and platen waste ink absorbers are replaced, reset both the main and platen waste ink counters.

Try this solution to reset the ink tank , it should work for most pixmas and several other Canon printers.
