For the PSP 2000 and 3000...
The Naki "analog joystick" is actually a gel (or silicone) cap.
You push it on right over the original button to thicken and
round it off, giving you more surface to push around,

It is more than likely either your Analog stick or your Faceplate isn't sitting flush and is putting pressure on the Analog stick to make your character move. I can offer a free diagnosis and provide a repair service offer. If it is the Analog stick we charge only $50.00 to fix it. This price includes priority shipping, a 30 day warranty on repaired parts, and labor. We accept Paypal, check, money order, and wire transfer.

The joy (control) stick.

i had this problem to, and your either going to have to replace the joy stick, or if your lucky you can take it out, clean it and it may go again. if you want to change the joystick, your gonna have to remove the faceplate. get a small phillips head screw driver. the first thing you should do is put the psp face down on a flat suface. next remove the two screws on the right of the console, and the one on the very bottom on the underside of the console. now, take the battery out and there should be two stickers underneath one black scrwe and one silver screw. remove the black one. now, you only have one screw left, but problem is its under neath the warranty sticker and if you remove, you remove your warranty. it is possible to take it off using a hair dryer, just so long as you dont damage the sticker. once you have the sticker off, the faceplate will just pop off so just take out the screws on the back of the joy stick, slap your new one in, put it back together and away you go!
