Indesit draining problem

In the draining cycle there is a grinding noise and the machine does not drain. when you remove the filter the small white impeller from the back falls out also. I think this is the cause of the problem. Should the impeller be "fixed" somehow to the drive of the motor? i.e. has a small fiing grommet or similar been washed away....? Do I need to get a new impeller and if so from where?

Re: Indesit draining problem

Cheers, have made a small running repair at present where I have glued the impeller to the motor shaft. I will look for a pump, and get it for when the running repair fails. Thanks for the help

Re: Indesit draining problem

Yes, it ought to be fixed on. Best plan is to take the motor off the back of the pump body, then do a web search on "Askoll Pump". Compare the one with the pictures on the other. Askoll pump motors are fitted to most UK machines these days, are easy to buy and fit, and a good deal cheaper than replacing the entire pump. If the motor doesn't look like an Askoll, a complete Indesit replacement Pump is a little under £30 on the net, so all is still not lost. A.

see the causes and fix it. God bless you

Drain Pump Filter
This is the most common problem. Some have a small cover in the lower front put a screwdriver in the hole and turn counterclockwise to remove. There will be a cover to remove, water will come out so be prepared with a towel or wet vac. Clean this out. Other Machines will need to access the drain pump to get to the filter. This can be done by removing the back panel on some washers. On others you will need to remove the lower panel or complete front panel depending on model. The filter is located inside the large hose from the tub to the pump. Remove the hose and clean filter.

Drain Pump
The drain pump may have failed. If you hear it making noises you will need to remove the drain pump and check for obstructions, broken impeller, or not spinning freely. Remove obstructions if it does not spin freely replace the drain pump. If you hear it hum replace the pump if nothing is found inside. If no noise is heard check the pump for power. To do this remove the wire connectors and connect a voltmeter turn to a drain cycle, refer to tech sheet or service manual for proper voltage reading, usually any voltage would probally indicate a faulty pump. If no voltage to the pump replace the main control board.

Check the hoses from the pump by disconnecting them and make sure there are no obstructions. Check your hoes drain, if it is a slow drain this can cause your washer to not properly drain.

When the washing machine is draining it starts to make a grinding noise

Access the drain filter and check for foreign objects in there. In this model the access for the drain filter should be located at the front bottom of the machine, behind a trim. Other models have the access at the back. Disconnect power, locate access, remove cap, collect water using a container and check for blockage or foreign objects in there.

Got an OE error, now it will not finish rinse and spin, sounds like it is grinding in the spin cycle and the timer is stopped at 27 minutes remaining. What is wrong?

The problem is in the drain system as what error code OE stands for.The grinding noise is coming from the drain pump. Loose change, hair pins and the likes can get into the pump filter and sometimes into the pump impeller causing a grinding noise during the spin cycle because the pump works while the machine is spinning. The pump impeller may also be broken causing the grinding noise.

Disconnect power then open the filter door on the bottom left of the cabinet.

Remove the drain plug and drain the water out completely into a shallow basin or the likes. Once drained, lay a piece of towel under the filter then turn the filter knob counterclockwise and remove it. Clean the filter and reach in the pump impeller to check it if blocked or broken. If cleaning the filter does not solve the problem, you need to access the drain pump assembly and check the pump particularly the impeller thoroughly. The wash cycle clicks on and a small amount of water enters the drum, as normal, but then there is just a humming noise and the drum does not move. When I put it on the rinse and spin cycle (there is...

I removed the bottom panel under the door and drained the the tub. There is a white filter housing that unscrews, but you need to have towels handy to catch the water that comes out. The machine appeared to work after that but it would'nt drain and it turns out that the humming noise was coming from the drain pump connected to the filter. I ordered a new drain pump assembly, which should be easy to replace since it is located at the front of the washing machine.

Hi! I have an Indesit W84TX washing machine. Lately, it has stopped working every time it reaches the rinse cycle. It seems to rinse and drain just one time before the process stops and the settings dial...

Actually, while the settings dial spins, there is also a kind of grinding/clicking sound from down where the drain port is. I checked it and there is no filter there when I open it.

Washing Machine not draining

I have just fixed the same problem. At the front - bottom right is the filter - you may have to remove the kick board on your fitted kitchen to see this - put a small dish under to capture water - unscrew half a turn - drain off all the water - then fully unsrew and pull out - I had money and treads from jeans blocking the filter - clean out, replace filter and fully tighten. My machine worked after this. - Steve
