If this device was setup by your ISP you will need to contact them for the information. Otherwise if you have just purchased this device it will have a default "SSID" and usually no encryption key setup.

If someone else has helped you set this device up you may need to contact them. SSID's and encryption keys are usually picked by the person setting up the device. So unfortunately for this particular problem we may not be able to offer a lot of help. But feel free to ask addition question if needed.

Need to setup back the wifi and I can't remember my password fcc id QDX33200

if you have windows vista or newer or mac os10.6 or newer we can retrieve the key from the device.

windows vista and 7, use the network icon on the borrom right of the of the taskbar, next to the system time, left click to select.
you should already be connected, so right click on the name of the network. choose properties and select the security tab. then choose, display these characters

on mac os 10.6 we go to utilities<keyring<networks<and find it from the profile

otherwise we need to login to the modem, usually at the address 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. we do this in a browser. you'll be asked to login. usually the username is either blank or admin, and most often the password is password. navigate and look for security key, encryption key, pre shared key, network password.

if you need more specifi instruction, post the manufacturer, model and we can gofrom there

Wanna know how to secure my belkin wireless G router.

Setting the router's administrator password

All Belkin Router's ship without an admin password. If you require an admin password then follow the below instructions.

Setup steps:

  1. Connect the computer to one of the four LAN ports on the router.
  2. Open a web browser on the computer.
  3. In the address bar of the web browser, type http://192.168.2.1
  4. Click Login in the upper right-hand corner of the page. The router does not ship with a password, so just click Submit.
    login.jpg
  5. Click on System Settings under Utilities on the left-hand side of the opened page.
    systemsettings.jpg
  6. You will see a feature called, "Administrator Password". Type in your current password (default leave blank).
    .adminpwd.jpg
  7. Click "Apply Changes". Your new password is now active.

Note: Do not forget the new password and keep it somewhere safe. If you forget your password, you'll be unable to access your router's settings. If you forget or lose your password, you'll need to "Perform a hardware reset on the router". This will reset the password to its default, as well as erase any and all other settings you may have changed

Cannot connect wifi with my iPad and Mac Bool Pro. I have put my password (WPA), but not able to connect.

Both should connect OK: first ensure that Wifi is enabled an configured for each service.

In order to connect to a Wifi service you need to know/have the correct information for each network/router you want to connect to:
  • Broadcast or SSID : Case sensitive ID.
  • Security Type : NONE, SHARED, WEP, WPA-Personal, WPA-Enterprise, WPA2-Personal or WPA2-Enterprise
  • Encrytion Type : AES or TKIP
  • Network Security Key: normally entered in Hex format (2chars pairs)
Hope it helps.

I need to hange the security password in order for me to use my laptop but my niece forgot the security key password and i need to change it

The password should be stored in your niece's laptop, or any other computer which has connected to that router.

If that computer has Windows 7, there is a built-in function to display the password. Go to:
Start > Control Panel > Network & sharing > Manage wireless
That will being up a list of routers. Find the correct one, right-click and select "Properties".

12_31_2011_9_45_20_pm.gif

That will bring up an info box for that router. Select the "Security" tab, The security key (password) will be hidden behind asterisks. Place a check in the box for "Show characters". That will display the password

12_31_2011_9_46_55_pm.gif
If the computer which has connected to the router has an older operating system (Vista or Windows XP), then you may not have that built-in password display feature. But you may still be able retrieve the password by installing some specialized software.

Here are two suggested free software programs to display wireless passwords:

How to set up a password on ASUS RT-G32 wireless router so others cannot access my internet services.

Open a browser. Type in the router IP 192.168.1.1. Login to the router using your user id and password. If you have never set up a user id or password, then use the factory default ones to access. Once into the router settings, change the admin password to avoid anyone later accessing the router and changing your settings. Once you save the admin password change, you will be kicked out and must login again with the new password. Once in, go to wireless settings. Here you will able to set a wireless password (security key) for your wireless LAN. Once you save and exit, you will need to go to all your wireless devices and modify them with the security key in order for them to access the network. Once the key is in the router, your network is secure from outsiders getting in without knowing the key.

Need a securty code

Regarding your concern, please note that in order to get the network key/password on the NETGEAR router (MODEL_NUMBER), we need to login to the router's web interface using any computer which is physically connected to the router.

Please follow the steps on a computer connected to the router using an Ethernet cable in order to find the network/security key:

1. Open the browser (like Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari).
2. Access the router, usually by typing 'http://192.168.1.1', 'http://www.routerlogin.net' or 'http://www.routerlogin.com' in the address bar.
3. When prompted for Username and Password please enter Username as 'admin' and Password as 'password' (please note that both Username and Password are case sensitive).
4. Click on Wireless Settings' under Setup from the left menu.
5. Check if 'WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)' or 'WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)' is selected under 'Security Options'.
6. If WPA-PSK is selected, copy the code entered in the pass phrase.
7. If WEP is selected, copy the code entered in the key that has been checked.

This is the code required for connecting the wireless computer to the NETGEAR router's wireless network.

In some cases, for security reasons the pass phrase might show as asterisks. In this case type a new password and click apply. You will then have to use the same password for all the wireless devices connecting to the network.

How do I reset my security with the dlink 2310

To change your router wireless security
  • Support site here http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=470
  • User guide here http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=WBR-2310&tab=3
Connect your PC to the router with a cable to one of the LAN connections - Now you need to Log into the setup of the router - to do that open a web browser, use Internet explorer (some routers setup pages do not work correctly with other browsers) In the browser address bar - 192.168.0.1 Enter the user name (admin) and your password. Leave the password blank by default. Now you can goto the wireless section or secruity section and set the type of encyption to WEP, WPA, WPA-PSK etc and then make up your own password. See Page 25 of the User Manual
On the PC Double click on the wireless connection in the system tray (bottom right hand side of screen) and then connect manually to your wireless signal - you will be asked for the password you set in the router.
Now you are connected.
