Question about Amana AER5715QAS Electric Kitchen Range

My oven take to long to preheat

It clean and the briol works, but when you press bake it take forever, for example 100 degres in a half hour on 400 degres set point

    but the briol works fine , the element glows red when it on , but once you press bake its take forever. i tried last night to get to 400 degress in took five hours in it only got to 225 finely I just shut it off.

    i know the element is bad . how do you replace/remove it?

This is most common is low voltage caused by a bad connection . The most common place is on the terminals of the bake element.

    the high voltage relay on the control board or the back of the stove could also be defective , but check the element first

    the bake element is the bottom one it is what I was talking about . You will have to take the back of the stove off to check the connections or the voltage

The bake element is probably defective or has a burned wire on one of the ends.

Hello,

The problem beleive it or not is that the bake ignitor is weak ,and it is not drawing the proper amprage to open the gas valve.If you have a amp meter access the wires to the bake ignitor(usually behind the storage drawer) and check for 3.3-3.6 amps when oven is set to bake by clamping the meter around ONE wire wire of ignitor make sure only one wire,either one and not both.
if amp draw less than 3.3-3.6 amps replace bake ignitor. I know it seems improbable that if the ignotor comes on that it could be the problem.Professional appliance technicians who would charge a average of $250.00 to repair your oven,have found when the ignitor comes on yet the oven won't heat that a weak ignitor is the cause 100% of the time

Most likely the problem is your bake element. When the oven is preheating it uses both the bake and the broil element. When it's done preheating it uses only the bake element, so the broil element is heating it up, and since the bake element is not working the temperature drops until it starts preheating again.

When the food you're baking is done on top but not on the bottom--or when baking just takes far too long to finish--the bake element may be burned out.

You may get fooled into thinking it's working, because the oven is hot inside. But many electric ovens use the broil element, too, during the preheat and bake cycles. So the food may be getting heated only by the broil element, which causes poor baking results.

If the bake element is burned out, replacing it should solve the problem. Otherwise, you need to further troubleshoot the oven's electrical system to locate the defective wire or component.

click the link  Oven temp sensors sense the temperature is the oven cavity and the temp sensor changes resistance, this change in ohm resistance tells the oven control what temperature the oven cavity at and tells the control to shut off the element or turn it back on. The most common temp sensors used today ( *not all ) are approx 1000-1100 ohm resistance at room temperature ( 70�F )
Some ohm readings and there temperature:
Degrees F    -   Resistance
            100 - 1143 ohms
             200 - 1350 ohms
             300 - 1553 ohms
             350 - 1654 ohms
             400 - 1753 ohms
            500 - 1949 ohms

Magic chef gas range; oven takes about an hour or so to preheat.


most common issue, and it sounds like what your experiencing here, is a faulty ignitor, replace the bake ignitor ( located under teh oven floor, attached to the burner bar)

Your bake element is probably open. When this happens the broil element may heat slightly when in BAKE mode and that is where your heat is coming from. First thing I would check is the connections to the bake element as well as the element itsef.

Amana Convection oven not controlling temp


I have just checked the baking guide in the manual and have found that it may not be us after all. (Maybe this is why they telll us to read the whole manual. Well, I never have) According to the cooking time for Baking, the range is very extensive. For example, an angel cake at 350 could take from 28-50 minutes, buscuits at 375-400 could take 8-16 minutes, layer cakes at 350-375 could take 25-40 minutes, pound cakes at 325-350 could take 45-70 minutes and fresh pies at 400-450 could take 35-60 minutes. Basically, the baking directions on the box means absolutely nothing to use Amana oven owners. We have no choice but to cook our food or baked goods until they are cooked, whenever that may be. :) Linda

Oven will not heat past 220 degrees


Check your bake element, I had the exact same problem and found the bake element had burned in half. The broil element comes on during preheat and kicks off at around 220 degrees.
