Question about Epson Stylus Photo 900 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Blotchy print results in shaded areas

Not sure why this is happening now as I've never really had problems with this printer before but subtle gradations that lead to black are not printing well.  They usually come out very blotchy.  My print settings are all set for premium quality photo paper and I'm using good stock (either Epson brand or generic Office Depot brand photo glossy paper for inkjets).  Is this possibly due to older ink cartidges? I use AO100 brand that I get from an online supplier (Abacus 24/7).

I'm printing Microsoft Word 2008 for mac files to an HP2600n printer and the tables with shading that has any blue in it comes out black. Why? Why?

It's possible that the Cyan toner is low or depleted. If so, the printer will print the blue areas in black. This is a possible way to check:

1. Open your Applications folder and double click on "System Preferences."
2. When it opens, click on the printer icon with "Print & Scan" underneath it.
3. Click on the HP2600 printer on the left, then click "Options & Supplies"
4. Click on "Supply Levels." Check the Cyan toner cartridge. If it's low, then you'll have to buy and install a new one.

Here is a link to the HP cartridge page.

You'll have to consult the information that came with the printer on how to replace the cartridge.

Hi,I recently replaced all four colours in my printer. When I print, I seem to be getting "lines" or areas on the page (same areas each print) which are blotchy or not consistent. Help.....

Sounds like a nozzle problem or printer head alignment issue. This can happen after installing new cartridges.

Your printer software should have a utility to realign the heads and clean the nozzles. Run it and it will likely resolve the problem.

Paper comes out looking a shade darker, almost dirty.

9 out of 10 times this is caused by dirty contacts. It can also be caused by some electrical charge getting to the paper as it goes through the printer or a faulty (weak) power supply board. Your first check should be to remove all of the consumables and clean all metal contacts with an alcohol wipe or similar. Hope this helps.
Please take a moment to rate this solution, thanks.

When using high quality laser photo paper photo comes out blotchy

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Blotchy prints

First, make sure your print cartridges are aligned by going to your printer software and printing out an alignment page. Secondly, adjust your printer software/properties to make sure your printing to your best photo quality. Third and most important, make sure you have the right kind of printer paper, which is probably the main reason that your page is blotchy.

Another reason its blotchy would be if the printer was not a good one.

Poor print quality

First Perform deep print head cleaning if this fails and the print results are same then you may need to replace the print head on the printer .......
